Remember the game? link picture QUESTIONS - Terrain: So, what terrain would you use? Just a bare open field and ravines, or should alien plants and other obstacles be added? Would you add mining equipment strewn about? picture picture picture Figures: What 15mm figures would work for the human Legionnaires? What figures for the 7-foot tall primitive Irdans? Would you include the Twarg miners in the conflict? If so, what figures would you use for them? Space, etc.: Could it be played on a 2 foot x 4 foot board? What else do you suggest? Thanks, Dan TMP link TMP link |

Sounds like fun. I'd go with either GZG's Heavy Vacc Suits, Blue Moon's Orion Troops, or RAFM's Space-suited troops for the humans, and GZG's Crusties for the locals. Of course, you can substitute many other troops instead, if desired, e.g. GZG's UNSC, NSL, or New Israeli's, or Rebel's Earth Marines for the humans. Probably some other options for the aliens too, but the Crusties just jumped immediately to mind. You'll need to remove/modify their weaponry. Transparent shields can be easily cut from overhead transparency material, or the clear plastic from the packaging of many items you buy. You can use these right on the boardgame map, and/or make your own. Sure, just for fun, add in some carnivorous plants, and other hungry, toothy creatures, just for fun. I always liked the sand shark from one of the early Sci-Fi movies I saw. It lived under the sand on the planet, and threatened/ate unsuspecting astronauts. Great stuff! |

Yep, that's the one, although I don't recall it looking more like a dragon with claws than a shark. I just remember the fin moving through the sand. Thanks for sharing the link to the YouTube clip. Good thing we didn't lose Bruce Wayne/Batman on a lonely planet in space. Given the creatures long claws though, I see no reason why it couldn't have plucked him off the rock easily. It's funny to see Ted Knight in a serious role, as well as the "state of the art" computing equipment. I recall seeing stuff like that my dad worked on for the military, a little more than 40 years ago, or so. Punch cards, and magnetic tape machines were the order of the day. A shame no one has redone The Outer Limits, or The Twilight Zone, or something similar to them. They were superb. |

Do you think that a 2 foot by 4 foot board is big enough? Dan |
Top Gun Ace | 16 Oct 2010 7:51 p.m. PST |
I'd go with at least a 4' x 6' board, but that's just me. I like lots of terrain, and tabletop to move on/through. |

Never heard of the game til now, but
For the humans Maybe the Orion Troopers from Blue Moon: link The Cyclops battelsuit from GZG: link Or the Khurasan Assault Troopers: picture link For the aliens: This screams Lhurgg: picture link
Or maybe the Khurasa pulp ranges: picture picture picture link I notice you can get the bugmen in large quantities at a discount. |

Could it be played on a 2 foot x 4 foot board? That would make the map's hexes about 2" across, which should be fine for 15mm. A shame no one has redone The Outer Limits, or The Twilight Zone, or something similar to them. They were superb. And that is why they don't need redoing except by SNL and Robot Chicken. Revisiting the idea of the series has been done, with mixed results. There were parts of the New Twilight Zone and Amazing Stories that were well done, and parts that weren't. |

Outpost was a really nice game, i was guilty of playing it on Squad leader boards for variety. |

I was thinking that the Micropanzer 4-armed guys with melee weapons would be better suited. |

I think the goblins would be better as the cyclops figures are quite large compared to humans. |
