B6 asked about them a couple of years ago: TMP link Does anyone know of any new sources for them (preferably in either metal or resin)? Not interested in the entire wheels, with what are supposed to be the metal rims. Just interested in what is supposed to represent the rubber tire itself. So simply popping off wheels from Matchbox cars doesn't seem to solve the problem. If 15mm are not available, should I be looking at HO scale or 1/72? Thanks, Dan link TMP link PS. Imagine this as a Post Apocalyptic boat: picture picture |

For really cheap (at least in bulk) you could go to the nearest LEGO stor and buy the samll rubber tires--they're a little wide, but you could just cut them in half and thereby get even MORE tires to use as bumpers on your boats. If you go the "pack your own container" route, you can fill a little plastic bucket with quite a few of these things for less than $10. USD Or go with a few of the little tires and add other interesting bits and pieces (I like the steering wheels and ladders, as they make great bitz for building other stuff). Rob |

Go to a pastic wholesaler's website and buy black aquarium pump tubing. Make sure the internal and external dimensions are what you are looking for then simply cut tires of the width you want. I did this for my 15mm mogadishu setup and got about 5000 tires for $10-12 bucks. Although they don't have tread on them they look pretty good in bulk as part of barricades, etc. You can see them in some of the pics at: link |

We (dad) makes scale models of buses and coaches etc, I know he had (might still have) a raft of rubber tyres for them – want me to get measurements? I think the models are about 1:76th |

Dan, take a look at the Walthers link below. They are a huge train distributor with hundreds of manufacturers in stock. If you see something you like go to the Blue Ridge Hobbies link below and order at 25-30+% off every day. Blue Ridge has excellent service but their website is a little of a pain to navigate in unless you have the Walthers part number in which case, it is a snap. On the rare occasions when I've needed them, I just do a search for some in HO scale. Often they are a little oversized, especially if I pick up truck tires. But the difference isn't really an issue. For example- link (look about halfway down the page.) Duck |

Bought these: auction I still think I need to add a little more detail to the tires in Green Stuff. In the meantime, this is what the boat looks like today: link TMP link Though this is what I want it to look like when all is said and done: link Dan |

Dan, Try S&S Models. They do not have a web order process and you will have to email them for catalog pages but they do tires in 20mm and 28mm, but they do do some 15mm stuff as well and might have tires in that scale. -Eli |
