Looking for handful or two of desert-hardy, robed fellas (Bedouin and Taureg), with firearms, who are willing to travel far, far away …

No. I mean REALLY far, far, far away …

So far, I am only aware of Peter Pig's Range 22 and Black Hat's Napoleon in Egypt:

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Dan
PS. I have conversions in mind. The robes are not the easiest part to do, so I might as well start with well-sculpted robed figures and then just convert the weapons.

Are these any good?

The Tuaregs from Minifigs are all armed with rifles and foot in a variety of positions reminicent of Airfix. They offer both horse and camel mounted as well.

Stone Mountain are 15mm and small by current standards.

Are Minifigs' taller than most?

For me, the taller the better.

Thanks.

The side by side reviews offered by Extra Crispy are useful.

There you will find the manufactures whose figures reach 17/18mm.

Are not the plastics currently 20mm? Their Arabs might be the size you could be looking for.
Cheers,
Robert

"Are Minifigs' taller than most?"

Not really; that's an older range. Comparisons of the remastered Napoleonics will not guide you there.

I have some Stone Moutain Miniatures arabs/bedouins/tuareg from their French Foriegn Legion line.
Good figs, active poses, no flash, and good detail.
I would recommend them.

Thanks, everyone.

I got my GZG sprues for head swaps, so now it's time for me to order the Arabs/Bedouins/Tuareg.

In the next few weeks I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I have sold a lot of the Minirfig Colonial range and the stone mountain Arab range in the past 25 years.

Cacique Caribe20 Feb 2010 10:31 a.m. PST

A couple of minutes ago I sent Stone Mountain an email, asking if they would consider selling me one of each foot variant in their Bedouin/Tuareg/Arab range (no duplicates).

If that doesn't work, I'll consider other options.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks.

Dan
