Have you seen these?

Well, this is what they seem to look like next to 15mm figures:

I ordered a few on ebay and, when they arrive, I plan to take some comparison photos for your guys.

In the meantime . . .

Is anyone else already planning on using the BK ST shuttles for 15mm gaming? If so, are you planning to use as-is, or thinking of painting/washing? And, will you superglue shut the speaker-button thingie?

Thanks.

Dan

And . . . do you think that the style of the shuttle works best for use with human-type* troops or with aliens (like GZG Crusties, Spriggan Spugs, etc.)?

Thanks again.

Dan
* I guess that "Visitors" could be considered human-like. :)

I removed the speaker parts from the inside and then glued the tail down on mine.

I think that they are perfect for XCOM inspired games: one of the GZG mobile autoguns looks like it would fit in them along with a squad of infantry. I did mine in a basic brown as a means hide the ownership from the shuttle from pesky aliens…

For other aliens, I think this would work for any bipedal types as a simple shuttle, painted differently and markings on it to denote the race that owns it. Much depends on how alien you want vehicles to look or if the shuttle is like the Ford Model T of spacefarers (one style and one color).

It definitely looks like it would work with some of the smaller Greys out there, like Copplestone's.

Dropzonetoe Fezian06 Dec 2009 9:16 a.m. PST

Darn, I didn't even see these when I was posting about my McDonald dropship. Begun the food wars have…

I might have to pick one up to see how they mesh togeather.

Sargonarhes06 Dec 2009 11:06 a.m. PST

What, are they re-releasing these for the Star Trek DVD release?
Haven't even looked on Ebay for any of them, got other plans.
Need to build a drop-pod for CEF forces.

Top Gun Ace06 Dec 2009 12:08 p.m. PST

Yes, I bought a few, and hope to repaint them for use in gaming.

Those look pretty decent. Quite functional for 15mm games.

Redroom: "I removed the speaker parts from the inside and then glued the tail down on mine."

Thanks. Glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking of doing that.

Yeah, these came out around the same time the movie did. Not surprising to see 'em moving on Ebay.

Robin Bobcat06 Dec 2009 7:10 p.m. PST

I personally plan to hit McD's.. they have nerf guns.

Gaaaah, flippin cool stuff for projects i do not even dare consider starting even though when i do get around to it they will no longer be around to get hold of.

Damn the 24 hours in a day limit to time.

Damn my currently fragile finacial state.

Cacique Caribe20 Feb 2010 2:43 a.m. PST

Anyone else using them these days?

If so, with what?

@Legion 4 very nice I like what you did to it great job!

They didn't pass them around up here in the area of Minnesota I'm in just the darn glasses, would have got and few guess I'll have to get them from ebay :(

Likewise didn't see them, though I tend not to BK much.

Thankfully, I often see stuff eventually in thrift stores, now that the whole contaminated toy hysteria's abated.

I was thinking 'definitely human' until the bronzed version. Then, 'where's the glowing green Predator markings?' Obviously, swings every way but 'organic' ship.

Not that someone won't consider that a challenge to refute. ;->=

Cacique Caribe23 Aug 2010 8:38 p.m. PST

Fantastic job, Legion.
Hope mine turn out half as nice.

Okay, officially found on in a thrift store. Baggie of things, mostly unusable, but for a buck…

Must say, unpainted, it's hardly impressive, and takes constant vigilance not trigger the eventual 'approaching drop zone'. By the third or fourth time, gets pretty annoying.

Still, having seen the works of others, and having a fair number of 15mm GZG and old Galacta troops needing a work out, it shouldn't be ugly grey/white for long.

"Must say, unpainted, it's hardly impressive, and takes constant vigilance not trigger the eventual 'approaching drop zone'"

My thoughts exactly. If others can make it look good, why not give it a shot?
