Matakishi did a bang up job here: TMP link 1) Has anyone else tried to scratchbuild SF buildings? 2) If so, what material(s) did you use? 3) Did you use a specific pattern or plans? I would love to see if someone has done something like the buildings in Ghosts of Mars: link picture link Thanks. CC TMP link |

CC have you seen Bugbaits Dawn of War Space Marine Armoury over on TeraGenesis, combine that with Matakishis plans and you should be just about spot on for the Ghost of Mars look. link Robert |

For anyone making their own buildings from card/cork/plastic/whatever, don't forget our extensive range of building fittings and accessories (in metal) to dress up the basic shapes you make! Designed for 15mm, but many of them are equally good for 25/28mm! link Jon (GZG) gzg.com |

No Ghosts of Mars here either
Our group's main terrain guy has mostly constructed the buildings from GW bits (he's also the resident GW fanboy, or close enough for comfort anyway) but there are odd bits and bops from other manufacturers as well as some scratchbuild parts. Still I'd say it's more in the nature of kitbashing than scratchbuilding. I've got a few rather interesting pieces stashed away I might get to work on in a year or a decade. Modern plastic packaging material is better in this regard that the old (and I suppose, more ecological) cardboard stuff
This also reminds me I'd really need to get the move of my gaming site to another service provider on the way
Once that happens, I suppose I might post a couple of piccies of the buildings and other terrain. There's really not much point in uploading any new ones on the old site any more. |

Here's some of mine, done very quickly and cheaply: link Bases are CD's or table mats with PVA glue and sand. Smaller buildings are yoghurt pots with washers glued on. The tower and tank are beer cans, the ladder is off an old toy fire engine and the walkway a piece of train track. Crater is an inverted foil pie dish on a cd base. Smaller accessories are printer cartridges and various plumbing fittings. The dome is from my sons Magnetix toys. The rocks are lumps of coal washed and drybrushed set on MDF bases. The larger building is a takeaway dish with bits glued on. |

Yep, I have built some. I really like plastic salsa bowls. link They make some futuristic looking terrain. I'll try to remember to post a couple of photos of stuff I have built when I get home. LLC aka Ron |

Those plastic salsa bowls look pretty useful. Shame they don't seem to exist over here in the UK. |

I did a whole city by re-purposing the plastic blisters from packaging (mostly from toys or electronics). Spray gray and you have concrete structutres. Obviously adding bits would make these nicer |

My Goodness!!! I think there's a new bug going round. Anyway . . . Saber6, Did you use textured spray paint, like Fleckstone or similar brands, to get the concrete look? Thanks. CC |

Bill, Here's what I get when I hit "Submit": "Whoops! Somehow, it seems that you're trying to reach a page that no longer exists. We're sorry about that. To get away from this page, you can either click "back" in your browser to return to where you came from, or click on our logo to be taken to our main page." CC |

Bill, Excellent. I figured you might find it useful to see the actual text of the error messages. Saber6, I hope my question didn't get buried in all this bug talk: Did you use textured spray paint, like Fleckstone or similar brands, to get the concrete look? Thanks. Dan |
