I'm still looking for a few "Victorian" figures to use as explorers and I came across this picture: picture QUESTION: Who makes WWI troops like those, that would also be comparable to Old Glory in size and detail? (I'v noticed a big size difference between Peter Pig and the OG's 15mm I already have) Thanks. CC TMP link TMP link |

How do these Eureka ones compare to OG's 15mm? link link link By the way, I just realized that TMP doesn't have a WWI discussion board, or I simply didn't find it when I was cross-posting this thread. CC |

Jeigheff, Took some doing, but I found the Minifig listing for them: link Thanks for the suggestion. I wonder how they compare to the OG in size? CC |

I like the Minifig WW-1 line. Comparable to the Old Glory WW-2 lines and workable with the other 15mm lines (FPW, ACW etc) |

If your looking for guys in Pith Helmets the Old Glory (sorry to mention them again, I just started painting them, so they are on my mind) Boxer Rebellion British Infantry pack has several good "adventurer" poses all wearing the ubiquitous Pith helmet, 1. A man advancing with raised pistol. 2. A man charging with raised sword. 3. A man charging with lowered sword. 4. A man standing with lowered pistol. 5. Several advancing men with rifles. I think these would have several advantages over WWI Turks and Germans (the picture shown) in that they are actually Victorian, plus actually British. Those fellows in the photo are wearing those very distinctive helmets that adhere to Muslim law, therefore I doubt many European explorers would be found wearing them. |

Henry, Once again, thank you so much for your insight. I guess that would be BOX-02 here? link link By the way, just curious, what do the sailor packs look like (BOX-06A and BOX-06B)? Are they like merchant marines? And are they armed? Thanks. CC |

Yeah, thats the one. Sadly I have not ordered anything besides Box 02 & 03, so I can't help you with the sailors. Edit: I thought I remembered Dyehard's VSF site having a picture of an Old Glory Boxer Rebellion Sailor but I can't find it anymore. He was armed, but was in that terrible "running while looking at the camera" pose. link I know thats not much to go on; if I find it again I'll let you know. |

Success! Huzzah! picture picture The pose is not quite as bad as I remembered it; Dyehard's site has a fair amount of comparisons to Old Glory too, which should help you in your quest for compatible figures. link |

CC I have Eureka Turks and Australian Light Horse, as well as a lot of Minifigs and Peter Pig WWI figures. I like Eureka's figures the best, especially their Light Horse. They are terrific 15mm castings. They are, however, a tad heftier than the Turks or the other manufacturers. The Turks are comparable to Peter Pig in size. Old Glory (Skytrex in the UK) WWII figures are comparable in size and detail, but I would not try and mix Old Glory 15s (different manufacturer) lines (like the colonials) with them. They are definitely bigger. I have a ton of WWI Minifigs from 20 years ago and some Peter Pig, but my number one choice today is Eureka. Mark |
