Being flat bottom broke and out of work has left me to devise my own figures. Since I am currently doing some work on my 15mm Sci-Fi figures for skirmish games I needed some aliens to populate the table. I looked over what I had in 15mm fantasy and found some Alternative Armies Orcs weilding a spear. Cutting the end off I then used greenstuff to build a rifle that looks like an M14. Other figures like the Thanes game Wolfen is easy to make BIG Vargr with a simple snip of sword and greenstuff and wire into pistols. I would post pictures but can't afford internet right now so I doing this from the library. |

TableTopWarrior, You are a great example of how we should all think "outside the box", and utilize some of what we already have for other genres and scenarios!!! I'm going with the ones from GZG and the ones from The Scene: TMP link At some point, I am going to use the Pendraken "Night Orcs" and add staff weapons to the ones with spears: TMP link Then I'll be able to use them with 15mm and 28mm SF (if 28mm, they will be more like Jawas). What do you think of the idea? CC |

I have both Shia Khan, and the ones from the Scene (I got them from MJ before the sold them to the Scene) And I love them. They have been sitting no a shelf for 2 years now and I hope to get back to them. These are going to take the place of my (sold off 4k worth of 40k orks). I have bugged out of 40k, and have moved to 15mm scifi for the cost and other reasons I will not go in to here. I with you the Shia Khan as my Blood Axe boyz as they are more military in there look as the Blood Axe are. As for the others I am not sure what fraction to make them. But these are great minis Noel |

The Shia Khan have that "Old School Citadel" look to them. The "Kev" style goblin faces. Really dig them. They could use a few more poses though. |

Cloud I could not agree any more. I member when I got them for AA they were pushing there 25mm, as well as the 15mm as if they were going to take off like a rocket. Then they stopped! Just like that!!! Then about 2 years ago the pushed them on 15mm uk. I don't think 15mm uk will do any thing with them but they could be a better seller with more to them. Well I would buy more. Thanks guys, like they say, "neccesity is the mother of invention" so that mother has been with me for awhile now. I would have made some staff weapons also but once I got working with the greenstuff I just got braver and bolder. I also completed a Jedi that was very simple, I think the figure was from Mighty Armies collection it was a Druid with a sycle and I merely sliced of the weapon moved the arm slightly and added a lightsaber. I will take pictures in a bit when I have a more reliable internet connection and show off my "used to be ancients" line of zombies and sci-fi figures. |

TT Warrior, It is awesome that you are finding your own ways to enjoy the hobby. I have had to do this myself, though perhaps not to the same degree, but as a family man I have had to face the reality that my gaming budget is a lot smaller than it used to be. I have had to try to purchase new gaming stuff on sale or through auction deals, even trade. I have also found myself delving into my stash of metal for possible conversion to other uses. Most recently my buddy and I ended up with a ton of 'Nam era stuff from an aborted historicals jaunt. We have decided to try to turn as much of it into 15mm sci-fi as possible. For my US troops, this meant clipping the barrels off the ends of the M16s and using a bit of green stuff to add visors as well as shoulder, elbow, and knee pads. They may not look as good as some of those that are out there but once I get them painted up and on the table I think they'll work fine. The same thing goes for converting vehicles. T-55s, M113s, Russian Armored cars, even classic American Jeeps can all be worked into sci-fi vehicles. I don't even feel that they necesarily need a lot of conversion. Keep it up, -Eli leadpeople.blogspot.com |

TableTopWarrior, Any other awesome cross-genre ideas on the horizon? I really admire people who think outside the proverbial box. CC |

I've currently got a bunch of 15mm soldiers I'm converting for 25mm
as leprechauns. It's easy, really. A little green stuff to convert the helmets to bowlers, add some buckle shoes, and some nice sideburns, and you have Paddy MacGuffin's Magical Commandos.. And if you think that's wierd, I have some ACW chickens to show you. |
