Either as Post Apocalyptic mutant gorillas, space apes, ape-human hybrids, and such? But only a little bit taller than a 15mm human . . . please. Thanks. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 11 Jun 2009 11:42 a.m. PST |
But not as big as this guy, of course: picture Perhaps as a 20mm figure? Preferably just a few millimeters taller than a Rebel Minis or GZG human figure. CC PS. These awesome GZG figures are the closest I've seen to anything ape-like in 15mm SF: link |

The Eureka Gibbons might scale down, though their weapons would become huge in the process. For a couple of them, weapon swaps could work. |
CPBelt | 11 Jun 2009 11:56 a.m. PST |
I'd buy a platoon if they looked good. Maybe not as armored as the AT-43 apes, which I love but one must beware IP issues. Give them some personality. Make sure to have a generalissimo ape chomping a cigar--what could be cooler? I'm getting a platoon of those GZG figs you mention. I love them! |

AE-WWII has a cyborg gorilla and some human chimpanzee hybrids. Reaper also has a cyborg gorilla. There's the Rackham's Karmens for AT-43 Four Color Figures has the Super Simians, the Giant Robotic Ape, and it's monkey pilot. |
CmdrKiley | 11 Jun 2009 11:58 a.m. PST |
Although OOP, Mongoose had the Ape Gang for Gangs of Mega-City One. |

CPBelt, What do you think of the way this unarmored guy looks (imagine it smaller – but still a little taller than a 15mm human)? picture CC |
CmdrKiley | 11 Jun 2009 11:59 a.m. PST |
Oh shoot, I missed the '15mm' in the title. Ah well consider them Giant "King Kong" sized sci fi apes! |
CPBelt | 11 Jun 2009 12:06 p.m. PST |
I like that, CC. I'm in for it. (I also happen to be a Gorilla Grod nut.) |
Cacique Caribe | 11 Jun 2009 12:39 p.m. PST |
I may have to add hair to those GZG alien mercenaries then: link CC |
Black Cavalier | 11 Jun 2009 12:43 p.m. PST |
Well CC, when a mommy 40mm ape & a daddy 40mm ape (or 2 mommies or 2 daddies who have the help of science) love each other very much they can make their own 15mm ape. The Scene UK has 15mm GW orks (no idea how they get away with it) that might work if you painted them in gorilla colors instead of green. link Never scene them, but they might work. |

BC, Oh, man. You made me laugh so hard that my abs hurt. CC |

Actually, I edited the message & added a serious reponse if you want to go back & read it. |

Hmmm. Very interesting! CC |

TTF Fantasy casting Alternative Armies link You can fix them up. By the way I got an order of them and they're very nice. |
Cacique Caribe | 11 Jun 2009 9:33 p.m. PST |
These look kinda cute. They just need a little hair around their faces, I think. link link But how do they compare to a typical 15mm human (Rebel, GZG, etc.)??? CC |
cloudcaptain | 11 Jun 2009 10:22 p.m. PST |
They are roughly the same height as a GZG human. They are Orks
not Goblins. The guns are a bit oversized as you would expect from Space Orks. |

Add me to the list of folks VERY interested in some 15mm SF Apes!!!!! |

I know. I wish there were sculptors/manufactures who would take this on. In the meantime, I think I will try to make some modifications to the GZG mutants to see if I can make them more ape-like: link I've had some successes doing this with 28mm figures, but 15mm conversions will be a first for me: link If it works, I will order some of these from The Scene, and try the same on them: link Fingers crossed. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 30 Jun 2009 9:42 p.m. PST |
I only wish there were more poses of the GZG alien mercenaries to work with: picture CC |
Stewbags | 01 Jul 2009 7:16 a.m. PST |
Dude, having seen some of your 28mm work 15mm will be a doddle, those GZG mercs will be apes in no time in your skilled hands. You should see if gzg will take them and master them if they come out well, i am surprised that more people do not try this, expanding ranges for the seller and opening up possibilities for the less talented converters amongst us. |
Cacique Caribe | 01 Jul 2009 1:22 p.m. PST |
Thanks, Stew! Well, if they come up looking good, I may ask Jon if he wants to make "ape" variants for a separate SF set. CC |

QUESTION: If someone has both the GZG mercenaries and the Orcs from The Scene, could you tell me how they compare to each other? picture link Thanks. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 21 Jul 2009 1:10 p.m. PST |
I just realized that JRacel had taken a photo or two of the Orcs from The Scene: picture Click on the photo to zoom. CC |

More close-ups of the Orcs from The Scene: link They should mix well with the ones from GZG, right? picture CC |

Hey gang, I've been trying to talk Scott (who does the Superfigs line) into doing some 15mm Hench-Apes and such. He indicated he might do it!! Check it out!! link |
Cacique Caribe | 13 Aug 2009 8:15 a.m. PST |
RR, WOW!!! See what Scott can do to make 5-6 poses of something like this, but a head shorter (same height as the GZG alien mercs would be fine): picture And also please share with him some of the image links I posted above, on "07 Jul 2009 10:25 p.m. PST". Thanks!!! CC |
Brutorz Bill | 13 Aug 2009 11:22 a.m. PST |
Doing what I can CC. I posted a link on his blog to the main TMP conversation regarding 15mm apes. I saw where Ganesha Games is working on him also. We can only hope. : ) Ganesha mentioned apes with Tommy Guns, reminds me of an old Kamandi Comic I have. picture |
Cacique Caribe | 13 Aug 2009 12:10 p.m. PST |
"apes with Tommy Guns" Geez. That's not good. CC |
Brutorz Bill | 13 Aug 2009 12:25 p.m. PST |
I'm hoping for Sci Fi Apes! Gorilla Commandos or some such. There is clearly a market for 15mm Sci Fi apes! : ) |
Cacique Caribe | 13 Aug 2009 2:59 p.m. PST |
Exactly. Just imagine a Stalin-like attempt at coming up with human-gorilla hybrids . . . . . . but as SF warriors for the 22nd century! picture picture link TMP link Except that they break loose and take over their own planet!!! CC PS. This contemporary version underwent a little body grooming: picture |

Hey guys! I went ahead and created a FLICKR album to capture as many images as possible for anyone out there interested in sculpting SF Apes in 15mm, 28mm or any other size: link Dan link |
Pole Bitwy PL | 13 Nov 2009 2:07 p.m. PST |
We plan on releasing a few packets of SF gorillas and possibly other apes in 15mm. They will include heavy infantry as well as jump troops / commandos. Following test sculpts, currently working on good poses: picture Thanks, Piotr |

Piotr, Those are some awesome poses! Thanks for sharing. Dan |

Piotr, How many poses are you really planning on having sculpted in the first round? And, about how tall will the Gorilla Men (Semi-Simians) be? Dan TMP link |
