We are pleased to announce a new company (name to be confirmed) manufacturing a 28mm range of figures for the Spanish Campaigns of the Rif War in Morocco 1921-23. The range is planned to cover Rif and Spanish forces with a provisional 42 pack catalogue. The first releases will be four packs of Rif hopefully as soon as possible in 2009. The sculptor will be Richard Ansell and we hope to capture the feel of the campaigns with a well researched and comprehensive range. We plan to complete this range before venturing into other periods.
If there is anything you would like to see please speak up.
Will keep you informed as we progress.
Marco & Andy

Looking forward to them!

I'd be tempted to call the company "Rif Raff".

Don't thank me for it --

This is the Rif. I am Mulay Ahmed Muhamed Raisuli the Magnificent, sherif of the Riffian Berbers. I am the true defender of the faithful and the blood of the prophet runs in me and I am but a servant of his will.

Now that's great news!

Don`t forget my Wargamers Guide to the conflict comes out next week too – perfect timing for a new range of figures :-)

I`ve seen Andys list – very interesting it is too, looking forward to adding new figures to my 28mm forces – cool.

This is good news! Since Anglian offer a good range of Legion miniatures I would focus on the Riffians and the Spanish Colonials.

andysyk12 Nov 2008 10:47 a.m. PST

Yes the Anglian Miniatures are great and we have no intention of duplicating their releases. If we make it to producing Legion figures we will make sure they are much different from the Anglian range and then you can use both!

The Rif is our primary focus but the following release would probably be earlier Spanish Infantry.

Andy
Good luck with the range mate.
I had toyed with the Rif War, but have other projects first in the queue, and would not get anything done for at least 18 months.
So I can safely drop the Rif War off the list.

If you need any help with anything at all, drop me a line.

all the best

Cheers Nigel much appreciated, the Anglian SCW range has been an inspiration and set a benchmark in the industry.

WOW! This is EXCELLENT news!!

Any timeline as to when there will be pictures of the miniatures? Also, will there be a North American agent carrying your minis? I'll be e-mailing you immediately!

Just think about it. A few years ago there was just about nothing available for the Rif War. And now, the possibilities become reality!

Thanks, andysyk! thumbs up

How close are the Rif people to those of Omar Muktar who fought the Italians -- Lion of the Desert. I have been collecting Italians for this but have not started on the Native Peoples. Would Rif warriors work?

andysyk14 Nov 2008 2:51 p.m. PST

There is considerable difference in my opinion. You would get away with generic arabs a bit like the new Artizan figures for Muktar's boys but I feel the Rif are quite distinct.

andysyk10 Mar 2009 11:23 a.m. PST

Just a quick update; Richard is sculpting the first four packs of Rif. All being well these should be finished in about 14 days time. We will endeavour to get them into production ASAP.

Richard Baber10 Mar 2009 12:24 p.m. PST

Very cool, well done Andy.

WillieB10 Mar 2009 3:36 p.m. PST

14 days? Do I need to revise my Salute budget HUGELY?

MaryJane12 Mar 2009 4:49 a.m. PST

No, you don't. I need a new kitchen.

Dashetal01 Apr 2009 3:06 p.m. PST

I take it the Rif's didnt make Salute?

andysyk02 Apr 2009 4:37 a.m. PST

The fist 16 Rif figure greens, the first four packs are on their way to Griffin Moulds. More news soon.

PTCohn02 Apr 2009 11:18 a.m. PST

Richard Baber08 Apr 2009 9:30 a.m. PST

Brilliant news Andy.

Good luck to both of you, can`t wait to see these in the lead :-)

Richard Baber17 Apr 2009 4:37 a.m. PST

I have seen and handled the first four packs of these and I can honestly say – wow!!!!!!!!!

They are the more delicate style of 28mm which I personally prefer. The sculpts are clean and the poses interesting, varied and lifelike. From my brief check through, the chillaba, rexa and other clothing looks spot on to the postcards and period photos I have. These figures look right.

I am very impressed.

Well done Andy and Marco (and Mr Ansell) you may well have finally pulled me into 28mm with these…….

A full and detailed review will follow in The Journal

Rudorff20 Apr 2009 1:46 p.m. PST

I had the pleasure of seeing some of these chaps painted tonight, I understand that they will feature on the website once photographed. Quite outstanding, both the figures and the paint job, you will not be disappointed with this range.
