I am finishing up my "British" army for "The Sword and the SpongeBob: Dork's Drift" game. I have ten units of "zuluplankton", some jellyfish units, and the key characters and British unit leaders (you know, Spongebob, Crabs, Patrick, Sandy, et al). Now, I just need "fish" regulars in 25-28mm. If you watch the show, that is, if your kids watch it and you happen to have noticed it ;) , what would be good for these very humanoid fish extras? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind, you will be helping the chilren! :) Thanks |

They can be fish that can be converted, not neccessarly miniatures designed for gaming. |

I think West Wind do some in the Vampire Wars range. |

So what are you using for SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Crab? |

.."So what are you using for SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Crab?".. GREAT soft plastic figures in 28mm from US Toys. I painted some red tunics/white belts and kit, and added some British Sun helmets that I casted from 54mm 24th figures. BTW, Mr. Crabs is commisary Dalton, but he will definately not be getting any VC for fearlessly distributing ammo during the assaults. He makes the Quartermasters at Isandhlwana look wasteful in comparison!! ;) he will hold the troops accountable for every shell! :) Thse suggestions are great. The more cartoony, the better.
I will post pics of our scratchbuilt zuluplankton and jellyfish (and the outpost) I need to post all my pics I regarding Hurricon, Tatooine, etc. Its taken forwever for me to get them on disc :( |

There are kuo toa and weresharks from Reaper, plus locath probably. I would check out their line. |

Kyromek used to make a line of anthropomorphic animals loosely based on history (and bad puns). For fish, they had Pikemen and Swordfish. The pike men looked like generic fish holding pikes
the sword fish looked like fencing swordfish. Their website doesn't seem to work anymore though. |

I would suggestion DragonRune. They aren't too serious looking and are very nicely done. If you want silly fishmen then Get the Off the Wall Armies: link They are great as well. |

Great idea for a kids game, Smokeyroan. I was just watching the 4D Spongebob movie at the Camden Aquarium this past weekend (with the family!). Plankton has a robotic Patrick steal a pickle from Spongebob in that 10 minute movie and I left thinking of how I felt a compulsion to want to make a conversion of that evil Plankton on his floating command console. If you go the converting route you might be able to use the head of the Grouper here: link Also an amazing selection of other aquatics: link I might get me some crabs and trilobites for Starship Troopers. The Jellyfish look great too. |

Great! All of these posts had great stuff. Most are too,,,Realistic??? for Spongebob, but I was inspired! When we playtest, we use mini "swedish fish" :) At Hurricon, I played a great Sward and the Flame in Sudan game, where a cup of M&M's was our ammo, and when you fired, you had to eat one. (funny, when my Egyptian artillaery was overrun, I "ate" my ammo so they couldn't use it, but it was another player's cup I accidently gulped down :) ) So, I will use thes gummi hamburger candies (crabby patties) for the kids, to test their fire control discipline :) |

I have some Fighting Fish! My 'Something Fishy" range in Off the Wall Armies includes an assortment, with 16th-17th century European gear. They are all horrible puns. They are available from Warehouse 23 at: link Richard Kerr Gray Cat Castings |

Wow, Richard, those are VERY close to the style in SpongeBob. I will investigate your previously unknown to me web store :) |

You could try the Deep Ones and the Brine Witch from HorrorClix, and the King Shark, Captain Mako, and Abe Sapien from heroClix. While Abe and Mako are more "leader" types, I could see using a bunch of King Sharks as "infantry". From DND minis, the Sahuagin Ranger fits the bill. And I'll second the Kua Toas as well. By the way, I think using Swedish fish is an awesome idea as well. |

I liked the critters from Mage Knight dungeons or one of its expansions. Also, Privateer Press makes crazy good ones for Hordes. |

I actually did do a few SF pieces, for an RPG I ran (Arps{artificial Sapients}-in-SPAAACE- Space-space), set about 300 years past the 'Post Plague' era of Off-the-Wall Armies. The best one was the snake with a M-16 and a couple of grenades. I'll try to get some pics of them posted. Of course, back when I was working for a certain company in Amarillo, I started on a set of Star Fleet Badgers. Graycat |

I had considered doing some "Shanks" (from the Kregen universe) in 15mm, for DBA or whatever else people wanted to use them for. They are neat, "fish-headed invaders from beyond the curve of the world." |
