Remember the topic "Why Has No One Picked Up The "Wild Walls" Concept?" TMP link Well, LOOK AT THIS RESPONSE from Applied Imagination Inc. Time to copy and email John all of your ideas of what a Sci-Fi corridor should look like! CC ---------------------- Dear Dan, Thank you for your interest in our products. We are always interested to consider new ideas and suggestions and possibly adding them to our very long TO DO list. We have on our list, a series of Sci-Fi walls and floors. We have not decided on any designs as yet, and are pondering if a sheet of walls should be perfect or some parts damaged. or to make 2 sheets, 1 all perfect and the other all damaged. Likewise with the floors. If you have any pictures, sketches or ideas, we shall be pleased to consider them. Kindest regards John E. Hutt, Precision Products "aiii" <aiii@roadrunner.com> |

This is what I just emailed John in reply. I may be in and out during the next couple of days, so feel free to jump in with as many "pictures, sketches or ideas" you think are necessary to make this come to fruition. CC ------------------------------------ John, That is absolutely fantastic to hear. I may be going to the hospital in the next day or so, so I have shared the news with the TMP group members. If they are as excited about your news as I am, you should soon be flooded with "pictures, sketches or ideas" of Sci-Fi corridors for gaming with 25mm-28mm figures. I hope it results in added success for you and your company. Many, many thanks. Dan PS. The new thread I started on your offer: TMP link |

Hi Dan, Be well, mate. You're well loved here at TMP and I imagine in the larger gaming community. My prayers and well wishing will be with you. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |
Cacique Caribe | 19 Jun 2007 8:06 a.m. PST |
Thanks Maksim. If I do end up in the hospital, it will only be for a couple of days at most (fingers crossed). So, what do you think of the good news? I would love to see corridor walls of two types: * Very very clean lines, like those on a Star Trek ship or base corridor or even some of the Imperial ships in Star Wars * More industrial-looking, for the grimier settings. Who am I kidding? I'd be happy with any sci-fi corridor walls: link CC |
mattblackgod | 19 Jun 2007 9:40 a.m. PST |
Nice one CC. I would like grimy industial looking walls and corridors (although a paint job would make anything look this way). Good luck at the Hospital – I hope to see you back on TMP soon! |

Good luck CC – your virtual friends will be thinking of you. I think you hit it right that, in the genre, spaceship interiors seem to fit one of two stylistic models; not coincidentally, these mirror the corridor style of seagoing vessels at present. The two styles are: 1) "Industrial" – a la the interior of a submarine, with bulkheads, panels, vents, and pipes. This style is familiar from Aliens, Babylon 5, Firefly, the Millenium Falcon, and the grittier members of the sci fi space genre. In my mind, it lends itself to bug hunts, space hulk, and general shootouts. Distinctive features include exposed pipes and waires, grating or diamon non-slip floors, bulky doors, excessive mini-panels, valves, and dials, and pronounced angular bulkheads along the corridor. 2) "Hi tech" – a la cruise ship, with smooth lines, finished interiors, and high tech gagetry. Familiar from Star Trek, Fancier Star wars ships (i.e. Princess Amidala's ship),2000: A Space Odyssey, Stargate Atlantis. Makes me think of roleplaying, ship to ship conflict, and skirmishes. Features include rounded lines and corners, iris or similarly fancified doors, high tech interfaces, displays and equipment, and distinctive lighting panels. Most of what is out there now is Industrial, with paper models available from World Works games, and modular resin from Ainsty, amongst others and Grendel. Industrial style is classic for gamers, drawing from Sci fi gaming roots in Space Hulk and video games such as Doom. However, there seems to be a real lack of Hi tech style scenics out there. Maybe that would be the way to go. What say we TMP? Industrial or Hi tech? Interest in both? |
qar qarth | 19 Jun 2007 10:34 a.m. PST |
For me, both. So, do we send John the links to suggestions, or just post them here, or both? I would think that posting here might be more productive. |

I'd agree with Col Stone; go with the "industrial sci-fi" look with a bit of a grimey "used" look, including access panels and pipes. Steam can be optional. |

I like this: picture It even has a few bundles of cable dangling. CC |

Thanks Cacique! Hope all goes well regarding hospital. Remember, write down "pagan" "Satanist" for that religion question on entrance papers. Theirs no way they will want to contact your "high priest", so they'll take better care of you :) |
Cacique Caribe | 19 Jun 2007 11:44 a.m. PST |
Smokeyroan, LOL. My own family may not visit me if I did that. :) The potential hospital stay is not as bad as it sounds, really. Since last Wednesday I have not been able to hear from my left ear. Now the ear is swollen shut and the left side of my face looks like it belongs to a completely different (and fatter) individual. If all the antibiotics and pain meds don't work my doctor says he will have me admitted (he says he must see definite improvement by tomorrow or off to the hospital I go). CC |

Yikes! Good luck, CC. Here's hoping it's not something like a spider bite. |
arquerobarbaro | 19 Jun 2007 1:17 p.m. PST |
All of these are nice: link But I prefer the texture and lines on Voyager: picture |
Space Monkey | 19 Jun 2007 1:18 p.m. PST |
That actually does sound kinda bad Cacique
but hopefully it's not some flesh eating amoeba or some worm that laid eggs in your head
either way I hope you come out the other end of it without any big holes or missing bits. I like both sorts of corridors
but if they go high-tech 'cruise ship' I like the STNG look the best
the subtle curving of the walls near the top and bottom
the inset panels

Another vote for the Industrial feel. I like the look of rugged colonies, along the lines of Aliens, Ghosts of Mars, etc. To be honest, the smooth line look just makes me think of old shows like Space 1999, UFO etc which have their place but I don't want to game them. |

CC, I hope that they figure it out. I don't recommend watching The Wrath of Khan anytime soon, guy. Seriously though, I hope that they find out what's going on. |
Ivan DBA | 19 Jun 2007 4:04 p.m. PST |
I prefer the 'Industrial' look also. |
StarfuryXL5 | 19 Jun 2007 6:24 p.m. PST |
CC, that will teach you to let DWW give you a Wet Willy with one of his tentacles
*slish, slish* |
StarfuryXL5 | 19 Jun 2007 6:25 p.m. PST |
Oh, and
I'm for both, too. |
tnjrp | 19 Jun 2007 10:16 p.m. PST |
I'd start with high tech, myself. May not appeal to the "gritty crowd", but it's still the ground much less contested and I believe it does have sales potential (can you say not-WotC-Star-Wars or not-Infinity interiors?). And more importantly, it's what I would buy (-;) |
alien BLOODY HELL surfer | 20 Jun 2007 4:53 a.m. PST |
First of all, good luck CC. Regards the walls etc, I would like both – I'd like to be able to do corridors like those on the Tantiv 4 (is that right) – the ship Leia is captured on in SW Ep4, and also more grungy, industrial ones like those in Aliens etc. Not just walls, rooms etc as well please – perhaps various size cargo holds? |
TeknoMerk | 20 Jun 2007 6:23 a.m. PST |
Best wishes, CC! I like both HiTech and Industrial. I would liek the ability to mix both styles. That would allow me to build dirty areas like engineering as well as clean areas like a bridge or crew quarters. Damaged sections of each would also be most welcome. |
Smokey Roan | 20 Jun 2007 8:12 a.m. PST |
Have you heard from the doctor yet? Let us know. Our prayers (well at least mine) are with you, even if you refused to join my Pagan religion :) |

Don't overlook cut and fold paper corridors. Ebbles ebblesminiatures.com has a very nice starship interior set you can download for $20.00. If that is too pricy for you go to: link here you will find a free 'high-tech' style corridor download. Check it out. |
Cacique Caribe | 20 Jun 2007 7:46 p.m. PST |
Well, for those of us wanting something 3-dimensional (like what the SF Supply "Wild Walls" were), I think there is definitely good reason to provide Aiii with as much information and pics as possible. If you have candidates from movies, tv, etc., feel free to attach image links to this thread, for everyone to see and share in. CC |
qar qarth | 22 Jun 2007 4:11 p.m. PST |
The more I think about this, the stronger I feel about having two sets done, one for spiffy settings and one for gritty areas. Damaged areas would not interest me so much though. |
arquerobarbaro | 22 Jun 2007 4:18 p.m. PST |
How about this
For the clean, station-like passageways, mould the sheets in white styrene. And for the more industrial settings, mould the sheets in dark grey styrene. |
Cacique Caribe | 22 Jun 2007 4:28 p.m. PST |
Two colors of styrene? Wow. I REALLY like that idea. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 22 Jun 2007 5:13 p.m. PST |
How about this then: * One white styrene sheet for hallways on an intact base/station * One white styrene sheet for hallways on a damaged base/station * One grey styrene sheet for intact industrial passageways * One grey styrene sheet for damaged industrial passageways Would that cover most of it? CC |
arquerobarbaro | 22 Jun 2007 5:20 p.m. PST |
Could John at Aiii maybe join this discussion so we can tell which direction this is really going to go? |
Roberto Cofresi | 22 Jun 2007 5:26 p.m. PST |
arquro, that wouldn't be a bad idea. |
qar qarth | 22 Jun 2007 5:32 p.m. PST |
Aside from the 4 moulded sheets Cacique mentions above, I would go with two more for floors. One neat and one industrial. I bet that a lot more can be done today than the detail that was possible when SciFi Supply did their Wild Walls styrene sheets. |
zoraxxx | 22 Jun 2007 8:36 p.m. PST |
I'd like to suggest a sheet of "parts", like vents, hatchways, doors, piping, viewports, and so on, for a more customized look. |
Cacique Caribe | 22 Jun 2007 8:55 p.m. PST |
Here is part II of this on-going topic: TMP link Hopefully, the title may attract more participants and contributors to the discussion. CC |
