Or has someone done similar vacuum formed SHEETS for corridors, and I'm just not aware of it? link TMP link I was very fortunate to have obtained one of their "Alien Habitat" packs: picture However, SciFi Supply seemed to have carried a lot of other useful vacuum formed sheet products for making SciFi and Fantasy scenery and terrain, particularly corridors. CC For non-sheet vacuum-formed terrain: TMP link |

I guess that, back to my original question, someone with some vacuum-forming expertise would have already started producing "corridor sheets" of that sort by now . . . right? CC |

I have to say, that Wild Walls website is awful. Cool product though |
bsrlee | 24 May 2007 9:34 a.m. PST |
Probably a 'perceived demand' problem, a bit like a 'chicken and egg' problem. Someone made them and went bust/dropped out, therefore there wasn't enough market for one manufacturer to make a go of it. So anyone (such as dolls house accessories)looking at this sort of product would be 'discouraged' from manufacture as this product had failed in the market place already. If there was a currently successful line of vac formed walls/terrain then there would likely be several competitors. Actually, come to think of it, there have been a few attempts at vac formed wargaming stuff, but they have all gone under – remember 'Bellona'? |

Xintao, I agree, the site was not the best. I am not sure why they still have it up and running, being that the company has apparently been out of business for quite some time. Bsrlee, Timing may have been an issue. Seems like SciFi Supply did their site back in 1998 (at least that is the only date I see on that site), when many of us did not have lots of spending money. Today many of us who are into that sort of thing can certainly afford to buy lots of those vac formed walls. :) CC |

Cost is another factor. A manually operated vacuum forming machine of decent quality is expensive even for a used one. Rabbit |

Amera still makes vacuformed stuff. link |
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2007 10:31 a.m. PST |
0N81O0, I agree. Amera's stuff is great. Unfortunately, they don't make sheets for lining tunnels, corridors or walls (like SciFi Supply used to make in their "Wild Walls" range). CC PS. Amera and others: TMP link |
javelin98 | 24 May 2007 11:24 a.m. PST |
We should suggest this to Amera. I have a pack of the Wild Walls product, and it isn't bad; could be better, but a very cool concept nonetheless. |

I've just sent Amera the following email. Maybe we can each send them an email: enquiries@amera.co.uk CC ---------------------------------------- Hello, A few of us at The Miniatures Page (TMP) have wondered if there was any chance that a company like yours would ever make embossed vacuum-formed sheets for lining tunnels, corridors and walls: TMP link It would really make our year (maybe even our decade) if we could see something like that back in production. Thanks. Dan |

Smart man, Javelin98! I agree. If someone like Amera did them these days, I'm sure the detail would be even better. Even with what the SciFi Supply "Wild Walls" product was like way back when, it seems to have been very, very useful: link link link CC |

I suggested just this thing to Precision Plastics some time back. Even sent templates and advised on scale etc. Dont think anything ever got produced though. |
Darby E | 24 May 2007 12:19 p.m. PST |
I had somehow mised that Amera existed. Thanks for that post, there is some pretty useful stuff there
|
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2007 12:29 p.m. PST |
General M, Which Wild Walls set(s) were you trying to encourage Precision Plastics to do? As for me, I'd be very happy if Amera (or another current company) did a few generic versions along these lines . . . Wild Walls: * Dirty High-Tech #0101 * Space Opera #0102 link link CC |
qar qarth | 24 May 2007 12:37 p.m. PST |
If put back into production, or if done by someone else, those two sets alone should take care of most scifi needs. |
Thieses | 24 May 2007 1:21 p.m. PST |
I have a table made with both of these sets. I picked these up at Gen-Con a long time ago. These still are very nice. I hope someone starts making something similar. |
KennKong | 24 May 2007 1:23 p.m. PST |
Wow. Amera has some great stuff! I'll send them an email, CC, and pile on for the big win!!! |
Zephyr1 | 24 May 2007 3:01 p.m. PST |
I'd like to produce something like the Wild Walls myself, but unfortunately such ambition requires that I win the lottery first

Sci-fi supply also did large (no LARGE) scale Steve Jackson's Games Ogres see this link If I remember correctly their main business was for the movie industry. They probably just had too much work to do stuff for us. |
MonkeyborgRedux | 25 May 2007 5:14 a.m. PST |
Thanks for the link – I remember wanting those hab tower kits (still do). Amera would do well to check this thread out. They already do some superb stuff and these ideas would enhance their ranges greatly, IMHO. link |
Cacique Caribe | 25 May 2007 11:06 a.m. PST |
I agree. I hope Amera looks at this opportunity. For many of us, it would open a whole new world of tunnel, corridor and passageway terrain making and gaming. CC |

I have a trip to the Caribbean from May 30 (tomorrow) until June 13th. I hope that, in the meantime, we can get a positive response. Take good care of yourselves. CC |

Look at the "Detail Sheets" at the bottom of this page from "AII" (Applied Imagination Inc.): link If they sold sci-fi sheets for the same amount ($10) it would still be a bargain, wouldn't it! CC |
Cacique Caribe | 18 Jun 2007 6:17 p.m. PST |
I've just emailed them the following note (at aiii@adelphia.net).
