RECENT BATTLE REPORTS
Craig Marek

Silent Death fleet battle as part of a home-grown campaign. Played on a ping pong table with over 300 ships [03 Nov 1999]

SeanMike Whipkey

It was a Sunrunners versus ASP fight, and much to much my enemies' surprise, I flew my ASP fleet right up his middle and blew away his big guys.

I was having a rough time of it, but it actually looked like I had a chance to win, but we declared it a draw. [03 Nov 1999]

J. W. Smith

Star Blazers at Gen Con '99. Teaching the system to anyone who stoped at the table. =20 [3 Nov 1999]

Matt Waugh

Recently played the basic 3 on 2 fight out of the basic Full Thrust main book. A new FT player wanted to run the 3 FFs vrs my 2 CLs he did a emergency warp jump with his last FF on turn 4 [12 Jun 1999]

Brian Jurczyk

I played Starmada about a month ago. I had a 500pt size fleet of Arcturan Federation ships, including one Seraphin Class Battlecarrier. A 3-sides battle ensued between friends.

The Arcturan fighters were able to create aerospace superiority, but could not stop the shields 5 transports of the Sssk (a lizard race with boarding parties). The two Ssk transports launched pods which penetrated the fighter defense screens and boarded the ship. I lost one of the escort frigates in a duel with an Imperial Invincible. However the Seraphin was able to diable the two lead imperial vessels with its ion cannons. Easy pickings for the anti-matter beams :)

I would have won the battle except for the valiant, but futile efforts of the crew to fend off the boarding parties. The seraphin was a ship designed from a more peaceful time with greater range weapons. Too bad they could not learn the lessons from Rome and Carthage. The Carthaginians might have won the Cold War. A past game of Full Thrust (2nd edition) took place around an unnamed planet, smack in the middle of two nebulas. My opponent and I chose 1000 point fleets, and set course to engage. My tactics were to overwhelm him with fighter squadrons; he concentrated on missiles and larger ships. Several turns later, I had missed with too many torpedoes, and he had destroyed the engines on an otherwise undamaged heavy cruiser with a well-timed pair of needle missiles. I finally conceded when his point defense batteries eliminated my last effective fighter squadron, and my lone carrier was about to appear around the planet in front of his 2 relatively unscathed cap. ships. Next time, I'll make sure to use torpedo fighters that can actually damage a ship through multiple layers of screens. Or maybe his missiles are the way to go... [27 Apr 99]

Last game was a quick round of Minimal Space Combat. Working on the Solitaire rules. [26 Apr 99]

Played the Star Wars game at Historicon '98..lost of fun, the game used Full Thrust...the rules were simple and easy to use and rewarded good tactics...I like rules like that. [24 Apr 99]

I made myself felt against the enemy, a mixed babylon 5 wars fleet against home brew shadows. However unexpected reineforcements allowed him to turn the tide of battle to his favor. [20 Apr 99]

David "Inky" Scott

Babylon 5 Wars. Fairly simple teaching scenario for a public demonstration. Narn raiding party vs. a small Centauri supply convoy. Nothing fancy, no special ships. The Centauri took heavy losses but managed to move to the edge of the map (defense perimeter). [20 Apr 99]

Last space game was starblazers. 2 ship on the Cometine side with a ton of fighters, versus Yamato, another Battleship, and three destroyers. EDF got vaporized, but not after causing a lot of damage to the incoming fighters. There were just too many, and the defenses got overwhelmed. The two Cometine capital ships took *very* little damage, and the mission was deemed a complete success. [13 Apr 99]

Edwin Santoni

Last game I played was an ecounter between earth and minbari in Babylon 5 Wars. 6 earth cruisers got slaughtered by 3 minbari sharlin cuisers. Was not a good day for me :( [31 Mar 99]

Rob Wilson

Last Space Game I played was a Star Fleet Battles tournament deul, played FtF with someone in our local gaming group. I was flying ISC vs his Hydran, who conceded after 4 turns, mostly due to his ship being more damaged than mine. [29 Mar 99]

Chris Wright

A pathetic game where I got slaughtered playing an NSL fleet against what I think was an ESU fleet. [28 Mar 99]

Mike K

The Last game I played was Mekton Z in a invasion of a city scenario, onboard a space station, we kludged up rules for going through airlocks and we had a space fight/ building to building city fight, all in one game. [28 Mar 99]

I ran Full Thrust for the first time the other week, and I thinkevery one was impressed. We are used to SFB games that take hours and end often thru bordome. The game took about 2 hours for 8-9 ships each side with novice players and GM. I recommend it! [28 Mar 99]

Battle Station Assault - A Klingon D7C, F5lL and Lyran CL attack a Federation base defended with a monitor. A mistake on my (Federation) part leaves the base destroyed and the monitor untouched while the Klingon force is crippled. Kept the monitor too far back...should have let it take a few hits. [26 Mar 99]

Jon Davis

I ran a convention game of Full Thrust as an attack against an escorted convoy. Each team choose an attacking force and scored points for damage to the freighters. The game was run twice with both teams as attacker and defender. [26 Mar 99]

Dan Higdon

Two Jovian Pathfinder exo-armors were escorting a Mercurian space freighter, when they were attacked by squadron of (presumed) Venutian Ryu exos. The Ryus avoided a series of guided missile attacks from the Pathfinders (Ryus have an anti-missile system), sustaining only minor damage on the approach. One Pathfinder was destroyed by Ryu cannon fire, and the other took a serious thruster hit. The Ryus then closed on the frieghter, penetrating its cargo hold with point-blank cannon fire, destroying the cargo (war materials headed for the Martian Free Republic). As the Ryus thrusted away, the remaining Jovian exoarmor activated its distress beacon, hoping to catch the attention of a friendly vessel before time ran out.... [26 Mar 99]

A meeting engagement fleet battle between the New Anglian Confederation and the European Solar Union, playing Full Thrust. I won :) (New Anglians). [26 Mar 99]
