How do they compare? I've got HOTT and like it a lot, but it's no longer in print. I've heard lot's of great things about MA, the one thing that has kept me from buying it was the lack of flyer rules, which has been remedied. Anybody play both that have pros and cons on both systems? |

I am biased, so I will not say more than I really like MA and think it has a lot going for it, but there will be some big updates with the new army books and expanded rules. Rebel Mike is hard at work, with some help, on fleshing out the rules to have a lot more special abilities and magic, as well as doing some clean up on some issues with the army building. I know the holidays have slowed things down (at least on my part), but progress is being made! Pirates will soon be on their way with a lot of new surprises for the game. Jeff |

For me, it comes down to: HOTT -More streamlined -The mechanics are 'invisible'; i.e. A certain element is quick-killed by another element because the rules say so. MA -More choices -Mechanics are based on number crunching. A certain element is weaker/stronger than another because of its statistics. |

more, more i think i will buy MA as i want start a 6mm micro world fantasy army. I used to own HOTT when i was a teen -but never ended up playing it. I'd be interested to hear what other people think. |

Well, I think HOTT is just a blast. I love the streamlining, as it allows a big battle with several armies on a side with a completion time of a few hours at most. Most of all, I have loved the fact that I can root around in my collection of historical and various fantasy figures, and come up with all sorts of armies. No waiting for army books or paying someone to tell me orcs are not warband if I want 'em to be. I don't know MA, so this is not a taste and compare post on my part. I am a recent convert to DBA and HOTT, and find both very appealing. |

Though comparable in size (in terms of minis, table space, length of play) I think MA has significantly more depth to it. That's just my impression, but it is a fact that MA is being actively developed, as Jeff points out, so what's there is going to increase. I know a lot of people play HOTT, but I don't know whether the game system/rules are, what, static or fixed versus dynamic/changing in terms of further options? |

HOTT can be downloaded for free now I believe? Have not played MA. With the prices coming down dramatically on the figures, it may be worth a go. Impetus has a free download for a fantasy version which I think is based on basic Impetus? |

HOTT is downloaded from PDF link FI is from link As for MA – Buy it, simple to use and a free flowing set of rules. Out of the three they are my favourite. Have a read of TMP link – get a couple of armies at the same time and you are set. Andrew Mini site: 2mmwars.kings-sleep.me.uk |

I played HOTT for 20+ years, but have converted to MA. The basing is compatible, so you can always go with both, depending on what takes your fancy on the day. When I read the rules for MA, I thought it was just a HOTT clone, but it plays very differently. Phil |

Well, I have played both :) Doc MCb is right, we have alot of armies and some neat books coming out in support. I think HOTT is fun, but like Phil says, MA plays differently
