"Other": Depends on genre and overall look.

"Not my scale" is the perfect answer I would have written, were it not available.

However, I suspect that there is just as much variance in those as there is in "25mm".
When I started out in the 70s, my chosen scale was 25mm.
Yet, some Scruby were larger than that, some were smaller.
Minifigs generally fit on WRG bases or 1776 bases. However, even Hinchliffe sometimes needed deeper bases fur staggering. SHC in particular.
Then, along came "heroic 25mm", which evolved into 28mm. And many 28mm scale figures today are closer to 30mm.

"It's not a scale, it's a size!" Oh, shut up.
The Courier imposed Barrett scale didn't help at all.
You ALWAYS need to compare ranges by sight. So the question "Will Gamma 28mm Bavarians fit with Omega 28mm?" Sure they will if you're as tolerant as I am. Not really if you're a stickler.

Yes, this rant is about 25mm's sad history. But is there the same schism within the ranks of 1/72 and 20mm collectors? I've never paid real attention to their plight, so I'm curious.

EDIT: Current Old Glory ranges are certainly compatible with current 28mm, but the company is "Old Glory 25s" and everything in the catalog is called 25mm. 🤷

I have always thought heft was more important than height. I can disguise the height. I remember reading in Stargrunt about how to do that many years ago.

Thanks.

I exclusively use 1/72 vehicles with 20mm infantry, so it doesn't look out of place for me.

The key is the the word "Would" -- Even though I don't collect 20mm or 1:72, if I did I would use them together, so "Yes."

I always thought they were the same thing.

I consider them the same.

Agree with the above- tend not to use in the same unit but that has more to do with the manufacturer than the scale on the box
