…recommend some nice solo* game computer wargames for my 8.1 laptop and either my Nook or Kindle 7.

* By "Solo", I mean a game where I "can" game with friends if I so desire, but I don't get tossed into the fray with a bunch of people who really don't know how to wargame.

I know of the hex games out there, I was thinking more along the lines of the ones I see advertised…Kings of War, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Slitherine & Matrix have a boatload with different periods, different levels from skirmish to strategic. Can't comment on ones out of my interests but the Battle Academy and Panzer Corps series are very good on my iPad and laptop and Field of Glory for PC.

Matrix slitherine also have pike and shot.

There is a pad version but there is also a pc version called pike and shot campaigns.

Lets you play any war from you 1496 to 1699.

You got italian wars, wars of religion, 30yw, ecw, scanian war and the wars of the sun king.

I can highly recommend Pike and Shot as well as Battle Academy. Both have a table top vibe though they both play on a square grid.

It's very promising, I've played it a little.

The battles are very good. The strategic map can be quite confusing. The economic system is very complex, and me who can't do simple adding, gets very confused.

But alot of people understand it and likes it.

There has also been like 20 patches since the game was released.

I'd rather have a battle game that looks like the way they battle. I'm no statesman. I'm a soldier! wink

Then scourge of war gettysburg and scourge of war waterloo should be your thing giant battles in 3d.

In one battle i has 191 000 troops vs napoleon's 120 000 troops. At 1:4 scale thats 70 000 soldier models.

Sentinels of the Multiverse Video game.

Not a Wargame but can be played solo or as Multiplayer.

Not easy either but most match ups should be capable of winning.
