Today's Foxtrot Comic Strip [ foxtrot.com ] I think says it all with regard to Bill Amend's stance on "What You See Is What You Get".

Nice to see our hobby is "accurately" portrayed by Mr. Amend.

I happen to absolutely love Foxtrot. Jason is especially near and dear to my heart.

That one's getting cut out and saved! Bill Amend is either a geek himself, or is really in touch with nerd culture.

The first look I took, even before reading, I said, "hey that's a bloodletter!"

I am such a nerd. grin

Loved it …A bloodletter is NOT a Balrog! Purist rule .

I had an email exchange a while back with Mr. Amend. He was a physics major in college. He got his degree, but additionally he had begun "doodling" comics for the campus newspaper. He found that he enjoyed that a bit more and Foxtrot soon came into being, and the rest…History!

I once questioned him on whether one of the formulas he had Jason spout off one day was accurate, and he replied that it had better have been as it came from one of his former texts!

Jason Fox is quite a GEEK and Mr. Amend's portrayal of him shows that he is quite in touch with both Geek culture and Gamer culture. He has had Jason playing D&D in many strips, and has even made an inside comment about the rules change over and the complications that causes, while Jason's sister looks at him like he was an insect not even worthy of squishing!

I am pretty sure that Mr. Amend wouldn't put anything in a strip that he didn't have first hand knowledge of in some fashion!
