With human crew a crane should be added to load the weapon.
Note that it's silly to have the mortar at angle with the vehicle: even with a mortar, the recoil of such a piece would knock off the whole caption. Like the superheavy guns on railways of WWI link -likely the inspiration of the design- the piece itself should have no transverse possibility, the whole system being pointed at the target.

On the other hand, I guess that a steam mortar, like the US coastal airguns of late 19th C. link , can shoot dynamite-filled ['sorcerous energies'] shells?

The whole system would recoil dozens of yards: to haul it back in position, and to tow it on roads, a steam tractor developed from Cugnot's fardier link -a 'road locomotive', actually- would be specially appropriate: link

But I prefer, when possible, to make a possible conversion a little more credible . My (not exacting) requirement for 'hard' 18th C. Sci-Fi

"Tabletop Logic" is in use. If it only fired along its length it's nose would be at mid-table. This way it can sit in a deployment zone.
