The only ones I was familiar with are the 40K Tau drones.

Who else makes hovering drones?

Cacique Caribe20 Sep 2006 10:58 p.m. PST

These are the Tau drones:

There are two different types in the superfigs henchmen line

Iron Wind Metals and Ral Partha Europe have the old Vor Union drones and Shadowrun Riggers + Drones packs. Also, some of the more exoticly shaped small-scale aeroplanes and spaceships would work well as drones IMCO (Aerotech Hellcat II for example — since I mentioned IWM).

Iguana21 Sep 2006 1:08 a.m. PST

There are also some in the Superfigs line.

Psychotic Storm21 Sep 2006 2:12 a.m. PST

I agree with TnJrp small scale aircraft and space ships are good.

The Hobbybox21 Sep 2006 3:52 a.m. PST

Some of the Mongoose Publishing B5 Vree ships might work, especially the fighters.

Infinity has the best drone designs ever.
They are ground drones though and fighting machines, so they are far larger than the TAU drones and they are (at least so far) ground moving so I don't know if they fit the posters needs.

CmdrKiley21 Sep 2006 6:25 a.m. PST

It might not be hovering, but Mongoose make a RPV drone similar to a Predator for Starship Troopers.

Red5angel21 Sep 2006 6:43 a.m. PST

Cacique Caribe, have anything particular in mind? I've got a line of miniature sin developement now and if you have suggestions for something you'd like to see I might be able to help you out.

Ebbles Miniatures does hovering drones in cardstock. Several variants, plus a "mother" drone. you can print them to whatever scale you wish. I use them for both 20mm and 28mm, with great success.

Mel Ebbles has a pair of cardstock drones, one large (command) and one smaller (attack) with a variety of weaponry. Pictures and his announcement are here:

They're designed to be used with small magnets to allow part swapping, although the magnets are not necessary.

Scratchbuild whatever you want using bottle tops, plasticard, and other assorted bits and bobs. Use $Tree weapons from the "military playsets" as the weapons.

Nero Craft21 Sep 2006 9:13 a.m. PST

Wal Mart also has a $2 USD die cast predator drone that would work with 28mm figs fairly well.

SpaceCowboy21 Sep 2006 9:24 a.m. PST

The Vor union line has a few of blisters of drones.

Here is a nice link with lots of pics.

We have a selection of hovering drones –

Here's the asteroid miner 'security drones' (scroll about half way down the list of images)-

And here's the more sleek alien gopher drone we produce for our alien species the Hydrissians –

(There are two types of gopher drone – one with a transmitter – the other with a light machine gun).

Hope that helps! :)

There's also the ultra-cool Hydrissian 'Scavenger Drone' that kinda, maybe, might be a bit reminiscent-in-a-good-way of those sentinel things in The Matrix

Farstar21 Sep 2006 9:54 p.m. PST

There are also a number of little drones in the recent wave of releases for Rezolution, though only one of those floats. Look for the "Bots Pack".

nvdoyle22 Sep 2006 6:46 a.m. PST

DP9 has some, and others that would be good for UGVs, or even larger-than-man-sized combat robots. (Really, for man-sized combat robots, all of the Gears would work.

All those DP9 models appear to be 'limited edition' resin kits…

That makes them seem kind of 'fancy'…

nvdoyle22 Sep 2006 8:35 a.m. PST

AFAICT, only the Thunderhammer and Sagittarius are resin, but I haven't seen them. I know the others are metal – except the drones, those I'm not sure about either.

RodofAlphaForgeGames22 Sep 2006 9:47 a.m. PST

Thanks Venusboys :) – forgot the scavenger drone….

Cacique Caribe30 Nov 2006 11:34 p.m. PST

This tripod could work as a drone for 28mm figures, couldn't it?

Those Infinity Drones would make for some decent 6mm Ground tanks as well….

Funny thing though… They have "ninjas" with the "Yu Jing", which is a Chinese word (or pair of words), yet "Ninjas" are Nihon-go

Lion in the Stars02 Dec 2006 12:32 p.m. PST

That's cuz the Chinese have taken over the entire continent of Asia, and made the Japanese "an offer they could not refuse." They're still Japanese, but they work for the Yu Jing government.

Because it's hard to see, those Infinity remotes are actually on 40mm bases. They're BIG, roughly man-high. (I've got the Yu Jing, PanO, and Haqqislam remotes)
