That Marsupial Lion looks strangely familiar . . . picture auction I'd love one (or two) in metal for my 28mm figures! CC |

I would have loved the carnivorous Kangaroos of the hopping type, imagine your wargame where your Homo Sapien finds himself faced with a crature that is out of range with spear or bow only to find himself confrionted with huge fangs and clawed feets jumping up and down on their head a second later. Skippy`s revenge. Seriously – they cant have been all that successful in the food chain to have died out can they? especially as the strange range of creatures in Aus today testify to a different evolution pattern than the majority of the rest of the world. Who would credit a Koala surviving when predators like these dont? |

CC "That Marsupial Lion looks strangely familiar . . " I think the pic of the Marsupial Lion is actually a pic of the huge wombat they speak of, looks more wombat like than anything else. But Taz there
. he is a Tassie Devil, and if you had ever seen one, or heard one, you'd know what I mean picture |

Wow. That is one wicked-sounding scream. Nothing like the cartoon: link And I didn't know that Tasmanian devils ever lived in mainland Australia! link link CC |

For those not up to date with current modern & ancient Kangaroo research – pretty much ALL kangaroo & Wallaby species are OMNIVOROUS, most species are just opportunistic carnivores, eating road kills or other recently deceased meals, but at least 2 varieties, 'Swamp' wallabies & 'Tree' kangaroos are known to be active in taking live & mobile prey – in the case of Tree Kangaroos, actually catching & eating flying birds. It was very amusing hearing Prof. Mike Archer recount having his dinner stolen by a 'pet' wallaby, which then fended him off as it ate. |

Tasmainian Devils -both real and cartoon- are personal childhood favoprites of mine. Along with the usual stuff (ie., Entelodonts!!), I would love to see more MegaFauna
manufacturers! Take note! >;D Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

Yowies Lost Kingdoms [a sort of Kinder Surprise chocolate egg with toy inside] has a Demon Duck of Doom figure [Series 1 no. 36]. Yowies are frequently seen on EBay or from collector sites. The YowiesDemon Duck of Doom figure is 55mm tall which scales out at about 1:55. There are other deadly Australian and NZ beasties in the Yowies Lost Kingdoms range including thylacoleo [marsupial lions], Quinkana [8 metre terrestrial racing croc., giant goannas related to Komodo Dragon etc. For a full listing see lostkingdoms.com At some point I'd like to do a full listing of the YLK range with the scales for ready reference. cheers all BBB |
