Would it be any fun to game these little fellas?

These suggested WH stats might or might not work for the 16+ Foundry pypmies I got on ebay and intend to use as a Floresiensis family group:

What do the rest of you gamers think? Could/would H. Floresiensis put up a decent fight in a WH-type skirmish game against, maybe, the ancestors of the Papua New Guineans and Australian Aborigines . . . with a few Megalania Prisca (giant monitor lizards) and other large critters thrown in for more fun? Or is the size difference that much of an impediment?

Any opinions on this? Thanks.

I think that H. Flores. would get big bonuses in heavy to medium terrain/jungle/swamp/forest, and maybe poison knowledge adding benefits to the wounds. Open field, not so good. The Darkest Africa rules I play also allows Pygmies to move as per open and remain hidden in close cover, with a big bonus for ambush.

Having spoken to some of the Archeo & Paleo guys who have been working on the actual site, they are much stronger in ACTUAL strength that more 'modern' Homo species, so probably should get definite strength bonuses, possibly extra damage too.

Also for consideration, they should possibly get an extra bonus as 'hard to hit' – you work out if it should be extra armour or a negative to incoming fire – or even melee attacks.

Just think – they step in under your shield and then rip your arm off with their bare hands (yeah – that sort of 'stronger')

Wasn't there something very wrong with the specimen they found ? Somebody suggested it was a microcephalic individual from a group about the size of the current inhabitants since some of the proportions were way off. Its brain would have been much too small IIRC.

I've been kicking around a Polynesian hobbit named Flora. Don't know if we will try to replicate the actual hominid, but I think just a little nod to their existence might be interesting.

What sort of WH stats would Floresiensis have in a skirmish game?

Was Gigantopithecus contemporary with Floresiensis?

Cacique Caribe01 Jun 2006 9:02 p.m. PST

Wow. All this coexistence (Gigantopithecus, Neanderthalis, Sapiens, Floresiensis)!

I wish a gigantopithecus family group based on the Bill Munn construction ( Wikipedia article ) link would be made. I suppose you could use Yeti figures but one that was closer to the Munn construction would be best. I also wish there were some miniatures of various australopithecines made. A. bosei and A. afarensis would both be great and could be used for Tarzan-esque scanarios.

The Bill Munn Gigantopithecus reconstruction is a fantastic model! I wish someone would make it for 28mm gaming:
