<<Imagine a goblin riding one of those
>> LOL!! A *goblin* would be little more than a *snack* to a full-grown Entelodont! Remember, the one rendered on Olduvai George's website is an *adolescent*, as an adult would stand 7 feet at the shoulder! More like a fully armoured *Uruk hai* would be riding one of those brutes (and no doubt loving every minute of it until the Entelodont decides to snatch an arm or leg off the rider when he gets a bit peckish

<<Leland, now you've got my interest in the critter.>> Picture this: a fully armoured greater orc/Uruk Hai armoured like a cataphract, as much to protect him from his mount as it is from enemy action. A long spear pole lashed to the back of the Entelodon'ts neck, projecting out well past his snout. Dangling from the end of the spear pole is a live hobbit tied to a thin rope, to serve as "motivation" to keep the Entelodont pointed and moving more or less in the right direction. There. You get the idea

Leland, Don't give up yet. I am still planning on getting a suitable boar to convert and send your way. Once the conversion is made with greenstuff, I will make a latex mould of the areas added. This will also be sent your way, so you can make quick replicas of the head and shoulder structure. I do have one question: If the humans are 28mm, how tall should the boars be to be suitable entelodont candidates for conversion? CC |
Cacique Caribe | 28 Aug 2006 8:48 a.m. PST |
Are these the proportions you want? picture The entelodont is 16.6% taller than the human, and the human is 28mm to the top of his head, then the entelodont would be about 33mm at the shoulder. Do you know any boars that are that height at the shoulder? What manufacturer/link? I just have to try this out man. Of course, if the humans are taller (to the top of their head) then the entelodont will have to be taller at the top of the shoulders. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 28 Aug 2006 8:50 a.m. PST |
Leland, Which human figures are you using? How tall are they? CC |
BlackWidowPilot | 28 Aug 2006 6:39 p.m. PST |
<<Which human figures are you using? How tall are they?>> I use a mix of old Metal Magic, current Obelisk Miniatures, Copplestone (Foundry) and Copplestone (Castings), Old Glory, Crusader Miniatures, and so on. Pretty solid 28mm figures, so my Hawgs from Hell must be proportionally compatable. >;D Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net P.S. Now imagine *Uruk Hai* riding these cuddly ili' piggies

<<However, I will try to come up with something in the coming weeks. Check your emails for news.>> I will. I am just happy that someone who can actually sculpt is tackling this challenge and shares my enthusiasm for things Prehistoric-with-an-ATTITUDE! I would strongly recommend that you refer to Olduvai George's rendering for the body proportions, as he seems to have an excellent grasp of how these critters should look (just keep in mind that the Entelodont on his website would be a *juvenile* rather than an adult!)
