Obviously I am on a quest. I have started threads on the "Waggamaephs" and then the "Fuzzies":

Are there any other cute (preferably weaponless) little critters with a hidden dark side out there?

I am hoping for types that are not single pose. I am, after all, trying to populate an alien planet with them! :)

I need them to be so cute that the humans will not know what hits them until it is too late!

Once upon a time, there were some minis for the *ahem* "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" game that were called "fright bears" or some such. There were four of them in a blister, and they were furry…and mean looking. Don't know if it's what you're looking for, but you might want to give 'em a look if you can.

emau9920 Mar 2006 10:00 p.m. PST

…er…apparently I was temporarily illiterate, because I completely didn't read your second post. The fright bears were NOT cute, so therefore not what you're looking for.

However, if you wanted some of your cute figs to 'morph into something more sinister, they may yet be useful to you.

"Morph." That's an idea! Thanks. I will search for them.

I think my wife qualifies on most counts :)

Hit the craft stores and look for little furballs. No basing, converting, or painting required. Use them as carnivorous Tribbles!

GypsyComet20 Mar 2006 11:17 p.m. PST

Then there are those recent packs of animals out of MegaMinis. Carnivorous Sheep, anyone?

Cacique Caribe20 Mar 2006 11:55 p.m. PST

I was hoping for something alien-looking to inhabit one of these interesting worlds:

Nt a Starwars fan but are there any Ewoks in the Clicky thing ranges, they would be ideal

I've seen some cartoony minis in the past at dollar stores that might work. Oversized eyes and whatnot, dogs, cats, teddy bears, etc.

Lance and Laser has mice in the quactica range. Very cute.

Well, I like those adorable cute little things on "Galaxy Quest".

Tasmanian devils are pretty cute, too.

elsyrsyn21 Mar 2006 7:13 a.m. PST

I like the carnivorous tribble concept.

I'm still on a quest to find or make some crazed space hamsters… preferably with retro rayguns.

emau9921 Mar 2006 8:56 a.m. PST

Found those TMNT minis…they're called "Terror Bears"

You know there are bunches of Easter bunny type resin casts at the Dollar Tree stores. Very cute and fuzzy and cheap.

As ever,

THEY would be awesome!

It's close enough that I doubt anyone would mind.

Cacique Caribe21 Mar 2006 10:16 a.m. PST

That is definitely NOT my post!

Anyway, it should be easy for some talented sculptor to do 5 or 6 of the smiley ones and 1 or 2 of the threatening ones:

As long as you don't call them the "GQ Miners/Minors" you should be ok, don't you think?

Fortress Miniatures makes some Vorpal Fuzzballs or something like that that would seem about what you're looking for.

If you're looking for inspiration, see the movie "Evolution". It's got some wierd naughty/nice critters in it.

Cacique Caribe21 Mar 2006 3:07 p.m. PST

Murvihill,

Thanks. Are these the ones?

Cute? To me they seem evil-looking outright.

I will also look at my copy of the movie Evolution for additional inspiration. Thanks.

Don't forget to check out the Jackalope and the Flying Pig in our Tale Tale Critters pack. We also have a couple odd smallish creatures coming out in a few months which you could probably tweak in this direction. Look for Tale Tale Critters II and a pack with a Mezo-American theme.

Here's a pic of a fuzzy my b/f sculpted for fun (if I can get the link to work)

Check out the "Hareballs" from Fortress Figures. Buy the resin multipack. They are cute little squig-like rabbits. There are several sculpts in a pack. There are two large Hareballs with big nasty teeth, and several smaller ones as cute as can be. Just place the smaller figs on the table, and when your buddies go in for a closer look trade out the small cute figs for the big "enraged" versions.

Fiendish Sock Puppet22 Mar 2006 4:38 p.m. PST

What about the cooing mushroom guys with fangs from Mom and Dad Save the World?

Roberto Cofresi23 Mar 2006 1:20 p.m. PST

I would go with Ewoks, Waggamaephs or Fuzzies too.

Cacique Caribe27 Nov 2008 5:09 a.m. PST

The quest goes on . . .

What if one was to sculpt a group of Fuzzies? How tall would they be for 28mm human figures?
