It's one thing to sell off little lines like they've been doing the last few months but now Reaper is on the block for 40% off with Warlord soon to follow. Are these the end times? If you specialize in Fantasy/Sci fi distribution and you don't carry Reaper or GW what good are you really?

Course maybe they are just thinning down overstocks. Whatever – it still smells fishy.

I re-read the announcement – NO RESTOCKS! Is there an overweight woman doing scales, gargling honey?

Kid Kyoto20 Jan 2006 10:04 p.m. PST

We can only hope.

Deth to newwave!

Mr Canuck20 Jan 2006 10:42 p.m. PST

Hmm… "50% Off" sales on all sorts of lines!
Certainly has the 'ring' of a "going out of business" sale…

Space Monkey20 Jan 2006 10:52 p.m. PST

I have to admit it… the temptation of the 50% off got to me… I took a gamble and bought something from them the other day… we'll see if it ever turns up.

If something were to happen to New Wave, wouldn't that mean the end of the hobby as we know it?

Venusboys3 = Ed Gruberman

..but I am rooting for ya man.

Good luck. Given their track record, they might take your money and not ship to you, as it's out of stock but they can't be bothered to tell you. I would be tempted if it was not New Wave.

Ed who?

…..yes, Ed who??

Good riddance. After a promise from them to refund or ship the part of an outstanding order placed so long ago I'd written it off, as well as a call from an Atlanta BBB rep, I falsely got my hopes up that I could put the issue to bed.

What are the odds I'll see my stuff?….I figure the odds to be slightly better to share the fortune of an orphaned Nigerian, whose father was poisoned to death by business associates.

Who are New Wave?

Balin Shortstuff21 Jan 2006 6:26 a.m. PST

What is New Wave? In a nutshell…

They've been blowing through stock for the last year. I think they're moving away from a wide range of miniatures.

PJ Parent21 Jan 2006 7:12 a.m. PST

At least the Nigerian's would email you more!

Well… I didn't make a very big wager on the deal… so if it falls through I won't cry myself into dehydration.
If it does go with the wind then it will be the first internet transaction I've ever had go bad…

Space Monkey21 Jan 2006 7:49 a.m. PST

and… I wonder if their current 'sale' is the result of the litigation that was impending last summer…

Sigwald21 Jan 2006 8:03 a.m. PST

40% off of nothing is still nothing.

As a TMP member of good standing & who has experienced the New Wave eye gouge I warn against sending any shuckles to these peeps.

Good luck to those intrepid souls who answer the Siren call with their shuckles.

I've never ordered anything from New Wave and never will, thanks to TMP's dire warnings and members righteous complaints. How New Wave has stayed in business this long is beyond me. If they're in trouble good riddance to bad rubbish.

smcwatt21 Jan 2006 11:20 a.m. PST

I wanna beat people up now! I've the got the pyjamas and everything.

So, does anyone actually think they'll be *more* likely to ship orders now? Because they'd sure hate to, I don't know, ruin their fine reputation and kill all chances of getting repeat business if they're going under anyway…

In fairness, and I've posted this many times in many places: In the old days NW's list was essentially one of stuff they could get. In contrast, most places list only what they have in stock.

So when you placed an order to NW, they sent what they had on hand and ordered the rest hence the very long delays.

BUT! in this kind of sale they now only list what they have on hand and, in fact, when I ordered the Ghost miniatures stuff it came very quickly and I was only charged for what they sent me.

In that regard I think it's very safe to order this Reaper stuff because they are not reordering. What they have listed is what they have and what you can get.

Disgruntled Goat21 Jan 2006 3:40 p.m. PST

shekels.

Thw word is "shekels."

Sigwald21 Jan 2006 5:36 p.m. PST

For you. I use shuckles…and muffin stumps.

But it was $USD that New Wave took me for.

bandit8621 Jan 2006 10:22 p.m. PST

I don't care if they were 80% off. if they don't send you what you pay for then what good is a sale.

Hiromoon22 Jan 2006 2:05 p.m. PST

I ordered from them in 2000/2001…not bad, it's almost a shame.
