Where the generally orthodoxy of the period mean that armies would try as much as possible to deploy their armies with 2 cavalry wings and a main body of infantry? If so should we limit players to orthodox deployment? FM |

Although its been a long time since I studied the ECW, I think its a given both wings had a cavalry presence, usually, the only variables would be the placement of guns and dragoons, and the use of commanded shot in support of these. Wargaming allows players a lot of latitude in deployments – which makes it more interesting, we aren't doing precise recreations, after all. |

Didn't we just to this for the 18th Century? Same answers apply. Make the rules so formed infantry are safe from cavalry and limit infantry-cavalry coordination to what could be achieved historically and the cavalry will migrate to the flanks on their own without special deployment rules. Actually, that's one of the tests of the rules. If deploying cavalry in the center against formed infantry is sound tactics under your rules, the rules need work. |

Herkybird – yes, also on this very board, not 2 weeks ago. Answers still apply TMP link Field Marshall how did you beat the database into allowing you to post with exactly the same title? Or is there a ghost in the machine? |

I thought it sounded familiar, but I am 75. Almost everything sounds familiar (or brand new). |
