French artillery unable to get a good bead on the allied cavalry because there's it's fellow infantry in the way. They move forwards to shore up the French right wing. As most units are running out of ammunition, cavalry spring into action: Light dragoons on the British left mistakenly charge….French skirmishers, which just run. Seeing the out-of-fire enemy, French lancers canter up the road to threaten the advancing British battalions, but their target has time to form square.

Forming square is all very well, but it's slowing the British advance. However, on the British right, one infantry unit has crossed the river and is threatening to capture the ford, though with little support.
