I know this is a crazy question, but I'm dead serious. How do you quote another post so that the post shows up with that white background and border?

I'm looking now and I don't see any sort of obvious quoting button on posts.

I love TMP but I have to say some of the things that you can't just intuitively do here are basic, basic, ANCIENT forum tools and features that have been around on the internet for darn near 20 years. No quoting button in the year 2025?

I cut and paste.

Martin Rapier30 Aug 2025 10:55 p.m. PST

No idea. I just cut and paste into quote marks.

The believe there is some sort of markup language you can use to enclose the quotation which I used to know but have long forgotten and can't be bothered to find out again.

It's under formatting in the FAQs I believe. Scroll down.

Naturally, do not skip a line. Everything follows without a skip.

You mean like TMP? (Yes dear readers, we are getting THAT old.)

TMP is a one man band, so you can't expect it to be supported like it's got a team of developers.

In my humble opinion, (which is worth every penny you paid for it), TMP works well enough to bring a bunch of grown ups together to rant and rave about toy soldiers, even with the occasional disagreements and dust ups.

I agree with Stryderg, but I think that the forum tools and features date back a little farther.

At least we don't have to chant " h t t p colon forward slash forward slash…." As we manually type the thingie.
Or carry cartons of computer cards.

Or carry cartons of computer cards

Did that, don't miss it.

Cut and paste is easier.

Don't forget the cryptic mudras/gang signs you must throw as you invoke the dark rituals

"TMP is a one man band, so you can't expect it to be supported like it's got a team of developers."

Other more modern games sites are one band bands too.

TMP is a lot older than 20 years, I started here in 2002 and it had been going a while already.

Anyway, most of us are used to it's foibles.
