I tried buying from Grubby at the beginning of the year, but three and a half months later no miniatures. So, I cancelled my order and PayPal refunded my money. Grubby has two ranges I can't get anywhere else; Sgt Major and Britannia. So, do I try again and just wait or does anyone in England know what's going on, or can put in a good word for me.

Fredavner, I'm in the Uk and am still waiting on an order with Grubby Tanks dating back to February. I've been in contact with Andy many times or chase but always get the same story: "too busy with all the orders for Redoubt and Britannia ranges which are being retired later".

I'm looking for:

2 x BV47 Ram Kangaroo / Ram Badger Flamethrower
2 x JP20 Basic Airborne Jeep
1 x VP50 British Small Arms
2 x BP45 Supply Canisters (2 open 1 closed), 2 baskets
1 x GD23 3x dead Germans
1 x GV114 Panzer IV G/H Medium Tank 1942-1944
1 x BV61* Churchill Tank Mk III 6pdr/75mm?
[* or BV60 which has the same description – I want the closest match to a Mk VII with 75mm]

I wouldn't do it unless you enjoy being frustrated and wasting time.

Search TMP and you'll see a long history of poor service.

What would make you think it has gotten better now that he is planning to retire soon?

I made an order beginning of the year only got my order after a lot of chasing and the fact that I lived near him so he offered to drop my order off at my house while he was out shopping. Got some of the stuff I ordered and then some stuff I didn't order I couldn't be bothered to chase up the missing stuff by that point.. Honestly I wouldn't try again it was to much hassle.

The only way to reliably get his stuff is to buy from a show he is attending which is not a lot of use if you aren't in the UK.

Sad thing is when he retires some good ranges are going to become history.

Sgt. Major minis is one of those tales of woe taken down by chronic health issues plaguing its owner operator.

Does anyone know if there has been any talk about Redoubt and Britannia being acquired by someone else? It really is a shame that such fine figures will no longer be available.

Well, the ranges aren't exactly available now… I had to stop trying to buy Redoubt after Grubby got possession.

3D print whatever you like on that scale :)

Minimo,

I have recently ordered quite a few Redoubt, the first lot arrived fairly swiftly, the 2nd will likely be on their way after her has recovered from the weekend show and long drive from Scotland!

In addition I got one of the big landing craft and some wading Shermans, in good time,

Tally Ho!

I think Andy is just overwhelmed. I'm in the UK and I ordered stuff from him on the 21st of June. When it hadn't come by the end of July I contacted him and asked to pick it up at the Claymore show last Saturday along with a few other things. I picked up my order at the show and had a chat with Andy. He told me he's snowed under with work. During the week before Claymore he had several large orders to fulfil (each over £400.00 GBP) and was working until 4 am two days running to try and fulfil them. Then he had to drive all day from Southampton to Edinburgh the day before the show.
I think like a lot of one man businesses he just has too much work for one person but just can't afford to take on anyone else.
I probably wouldn't order anything from him if I were you as it's just a crap shoot whether you'll get it or not. See if someone else can supply your vehicles, maybe a 3d printer in the US or a US supplier? That way you can avoid any impending tariff charges too.

If he is overwhelmed, he should post that on his site and stop taking new orders until he has cleared his backlog.
