Hi guys

Working on panzer pioneer battalion 220, imbedded in the 21st Pz Div, I'm using a mix of figures, mostly AB and Simon Soldiers.

What kind of halftrack was used by this battalion? It doesn't look anything like the SdKfz 251/7 light pioneer halftrack.

Thanks, Jim

Looks like one of the French Somua half tracks.

Gordon, that makes sense. After being destroyed in Tunisia, the 21st Pz Div was reconstituted in France so using French equipment would be easy. What threw me was the unusual shape of the tracks.

Meet Major Alfred Becker, who turned a lot of captured equipment into usable AFVs.

These were in use mostly in the 21st PzD, as Gunnar said. And that SPW is a Unic P107 (f). If you playChain of Command, there is a micro-campaign (Kampfgruppe von Luck IIRC ) where you get to use them.

Gunner Dunbar01 Mar 2024 12:54 p.m. PST

Yes, converted French halftracks, this Div used a lot of French origin vehicles, damn, I did this post lat at night and forgot to TMPafy it, to lat to fix it now.
