Just acquired some 1/144th trucks for WW II. Can anybody recommend a good color for the wind shields and side windows? |

Really comes down to a matter of taste. What looks good to you may not look good to me… |

I always paint it a Very dark Green – almost black, then gloss varnish them. |

Black works on 6mm, but I've never done moderns in 10mm. |

Smaller scale stuff I usually do black. 15mm and up, mid blue with reflected light highlights. |

I just black-wash the window areas that I've left in the base-grey primer coat -
Those are 1/144th scale halftracks above, but the same, simple application can work with 1/285-1/300th scale vehicles too. Your painting decision may depend on how many windshields and windows you imagine needing to paint for your collection, and if you're going to be doing buildings too (then doing all window treatments with a consistent look might influence your choice). A simple wash technique (could also use dark blue for example, and/or with a final clear-gloss coat) becomes very useful if doing hundreds of micro-scale minis, for example. |
