I could have sworn I saw a fellow forum member who had modified a Lindberg Southern Belle model kit for use on the Nile in a Sudan campaign, but I can't seem to dredge up a post on the project. Does anyone have a link to a blog post on it?

Thanks so much! I have access to one of these models on the cheap, and I'm trying to justify picking it up. One thing I do know is the model is a perfect platform for a Nile River gunboat.

And just the Hull makes a very good barge for a load of 28mm troops.H

Hobby Linc is selling them for $15.39 USD. I have my copy in the project queue!

I have one and love it. I used Ral Partha for crew (both British naval and Egyptian gunners). I hacked down the bases (dremel sanding wheel) at attached a thin steel washers. Magnets on the underside of the deck and everything holds together. Same same with the guns.

This priceless model is actually best suited for 15mm/20mm, but as indicated can be modified to accommodate 25mm easily.

But 28mm (or larger) really require major fixes many may not be willing to attempt.

However, the best/most useful parts of the kit more or less independent of scale are the hull itself, the wonderful boiler, and the sternwheel assembly. The kit would be worth the price just for these items.

I would agree RE 28mm. That said, it works great with true 25mm like Ral Partha.
