It appears this model has been re-released.

Back when it was out before, did anyone converted it for use on the Nile?

Thanks,

Vince

I never did any conversions on mine. I just did it right out of the box.
When I use it in our Canadian campaigns, it is the Chippewa Queen. On the Nile, it's the Nubian Princess. grin

I might mention that I use the Ral Partha "true 25mm" sailors in the Colonial range, and the Parroom Station sailors are not that much bigger.

This boat is the main reason I spent quite some time trying to get the Wargames Foundry Queen Victoria with shotgun figure. The figure fits right in the pilot house.

I'm also at Ral Partha gamer so the 1/64th scale sound about right.

What color scheme did you/will you go with?

Looks like it could be converted to an ACW river gunboat fairly easily.

I did white with red trim, standard.

How does it work with 28mm figs? A little too small, I assume?

John the OFM08 Sep 2014 10:50 a.m. PST

There will be a very tight fit between railings and bulkheads/walls. Trying to fit 28mm figs in there might snap off the rails. You still have to be careful with the "true 25mm" figures.
I suppose Minifigs would fit too, if you snip the bases.
Ral Partha and Parroon Station are as large as I would go.
I had to base my sailors on the smallest washers I could find. You might not even want to base them.
I have plenty of room on the decks for Houston's naval Nordenfelts and Hotchkiss guns and RP crew.

It is a classic "model vs gaming piece" dilemma. Models are not designed to be played with. Although, the original Lindberg model came with a motor to run the paddlewheel. I don't know how that worked out in choppy "seas". grin

Wasn't there an article in The Courier magazine about converting it into a gunboat?

Thanks, John OFM.
