I just wonder about some of these low-grade emails I get. Here is a recent one: Dear editor@…,Looking to get better ranking for your website fdicanadaforum.com on the search engines ? Let DPIseoPlus(Miami, FL) unique approach to custom content help you raise your profile… Why do they think I'm associated with a Canadian financial forum??? (And this isn't the first email they've sent me.) Do they really get results when they can't even get the prospective customer's website right? |

I also get bogus emails warning me that my TMP email account is over the limit, and I need to click on some link or my account will be closed.  |

That's in interesting Bill. I receive the same notifications
about my Cloud account, stating that I'll lose all my

When you send out a bazillion emails, somebody is going to click the link or send you a check. Phishing emails are crafted to require a significant lack of savvy to get reeled in. The more naïve you are about such things, the greater probability you will be able to be sucked into a follow up con or two … and the greater probability you will be embarrassed or otherwise unwilling to report the crime, thus the less the good guys know about the bad guys. Spear phishing (not this) is pretty much the opposite. |
