Side to side, preferably. Yes, I know it should be fairly easy to find pictures with a simple google search, and then just outline them and cut, but for whatever reason, I'm not finding anything inspiring.

Any help appreciated.

You can find a variety of Tripods on the junior general site, I would surprised if you could not also find Martians on the site.

Helion has the Peter Dennis set: "H.G. Well's Little Wars", which includes War of the Worlds Martians:

IIRC Reveresco also does a paper tripod model.

Of course, which version of a tripod were you imagining? From HG Well's book? From Jeff Wayne's Album cover?

I made one of the Peter Dennis paper tripods…its quite fiddly but looks great. The main problem is that it's huge… not surprising given it scales with 54mm figures (which also come in the book). It's well worth getting the book as it also comes with a copy of Wells' Little Wars rules.

There's a blog post about it here… link

And about the Peter Dennis book here… link

EDIT: I just realised the post title is asking about a 'Flat' paper tripods and this one is 3d…oh well…

You can find some nice photos of wrecked Martian tripods modeled for the "All Quite on the Martian Front" game.

Here is a The Miniatures Page thread:

A wreck could be as simple as:

For Well's type Martians, the living and the dead are very similar:

I think this one is dead as its eyes are closed:
