Well, that weekend of gaming away with the lads two weeks ago… early start (1000 am?) of WWII Desert- Recent desert warfare. Brits encounter advancing Italians, yet to be supported by the DAK.

My sand dune/hills amongst other players terrain pieces.

and a close up of the some of the destruction (it was quite even actually):-

Second game of the day (about 1600- 1830ish) Under Attack! Yes an isolated brigade 'box' of Brits and others being beiseged by rampant forces of the Axis from all sides. It was not a pretty sight, especially when one of us was throwing 1s and 2s for nearly every reaction!:-

And some painting/ organising since- a new light infantry regiment finally taking shape.

And some others waiting in the wings, so to speak, to get some attention:-

Finishing up W.G.F. Jackson's The Battle for North Africa 1940-43 so neat to see this.
BTW looking at Google Earth believe defense boxes south of El Alamein are quite seemingly still there.

Thanks.
This article didn't post well, no idea why, so I've had to rejig and replace half again over last 20 minutes. SOrry!

~ 14Bore- Frankly I had nothing to go on, and the 'size' was to accomodate player basing etc. so was much a scramble for two weeks prior of experimenting and 'assessing' relative features. There's a few gun/ MMG emplacements around there just because I'd had the off-cuts made. Nothing very classy, just 'adequate' .
Mates minefields look a bit lonely, but then he didn't use any sand!

I would like to have gone back there with my father, sadly was not to be.
regards
