Happy to see someone using der alte Fritz's rules set, I have a copy and was wondering how well they work, I haven't had a chance to try them yet. They looked really neat, I mean, 1 PAGE!!! WOW!! They seemed to work well.

This looks familiar TMP link It was a good game and the rules work well for multiplayer games. One guy was playing his 2nd ever game and was very comfortable with the concepts by the end. There's no chrome but that means you can build it into the scenario. E.g. The Guards force-marched to get to the battle? – then drop their combat rating, but keep the morale rating. We only house-rule 1 extra morale die for rear support, within 3". |

You've got the basic bare bones and you can build on them. If you have troops, like observation corps troops, just use them with a lower morale grade like maybe rate them as garrison instead of line. I also like the fact that they allow mounted hussars and dragoons to actually USE the carbines that they are provided with, abeit at a greatly reduced effectiveness. So many rules sets just seem to ignore that. |
