Did anyone ever make any figures and rules suitable to play that series? |
TheMackster | 18 Sep 2005 1:23 a.m. PST |
Sorry, no idea but I still wear my "Crazy Canucks" patch proudly. |

The new Pig Iron Sci Fi type troopers that were displayed on a news item here on TMP the other week would make great figures for these guys
Don't know about the chigs though

I would like to see some Hammerheads too! I think someone did some models of the Saratoga though?? Joe |
nvdoyle | 18 Sep 2005 8:13 a.m. PST |
SMT had a 1/48 Hammerhead, but a visit to their site pretty much says that they've shut down all production save for a few niche products (BSG detail set, Macross walker, EVA display base). Sad, they made a lot of great products – many of them in 1/48. Now, they'll most likely shoot up to astronomical (ha!) prices on eBay. |

Acme Model Kits make some SAaB model kits, including a 1/50th scale Hammerhead Fighter and Chig Fighter. They have Chig Soldier but he's 1/8th scale. link |

Doesn't the Chig resemble the Predator in a small way? I just had a look at Cmdr Kiley's link and the first thing that came to mind when I saw the model of the Chig (look under 'Chig Warning' at the bottom of the page when you click the link) was that it looked like a GW Dark Eldar crossed with a Predator. |

the new SST figures fit the bill, the guns are almost spot on, just dont put all the armor on, and drill a few holes in the back pack and two in the head, and put some guitar strin in them. thats how im doing mine. i have about 24 right now, all are WIP. |

Well Ace, that reminded me. I just so happen to have some Copplestone Predators sitting at the table next to me as I'm reading this. They do look similiar, in fact the Hunter Alien with Gun #3 picture (holding some sort of rifle, with no shoulder gun and with mask and full armor) probably looks the closest. |

Someone on the Two Hour Wargames Yahoo group was using 40K Tau as Chig stand-ins. I know it's not a perfect match by any means, but there are some similarities, and the Tau have the benefit of being are commonly available (albeit at GW prices). |

GZG does some UNSC Hammer fighters that are Hammerheads in all but name, of course this is in fleet game scale. Robert |
maxxon | 18 Sep 2005 11:19 p.m. PST |
I think GZG also has not-Chig fighters among their not-what-you-think-it's-an-original-design-oh-yes designs. |
Mako13 | 19 Sep 2005 12:34 a.m. PST |
Too bad, since those Chig fighters were cool. |

Maxxon what are there names? |

Any idea if the Series will ever come out on DVD? They already have its replacement series (Millenium) out :X |
byram1 | 19 Sep 2005 4:55 p.m. PST |
it already is out on DVD IIRC

I'd like a Saratoga mini for Full Thrust/Starmada. Anyone seen any such animal? |
Zen Ghost | 19 Sep 2005 10:45 p.m. PST |
I've seen a Saratoga mini on Dean Gundberg's site aka Star Ranger. Here's the link: link It was from his 1999 GenCon Sci-Fi X-over scenario. It's the fourth picture down. I don't know where he got it. Ken |
Zen Ghost | 19 Sep 2005 11:01 p.m. PST |
Disregard my last. It's a space carrier, but it's not the Saratoga. Ken |
maxxon | 20 Sep 2005 3:15 a.m. PST |
I could have sworn there was a chig fighter in the GF range, but now looking at it I guess I was wrong. It is a bit hard shape to cast as a small one piece model. |
DAWGIE | 23 Sep 2005 6:36 a.m. PST |
some some folks i know are using 40K TAU as CHIGGS . . . this will do for me until something better comes along, if and when i feel the need for CHIGGS . . . MONGOOSE SST plastic power suit MI or PIG IRON trooper will work for the human soldiers in hostile environment kit . . .

I think it was the GF-018 Mundani Tri-Lobe fighter from Eureka that could be used either as a Minbari Nial or as a Chig fighter. As for a Staratoga, I did recently get a great looking one off of ebay made out of balsa and wood bits, painted and everything. |

I have always wondered how the series ended
The "Synopsis" of each show toward the end was rather less complete than the earlier ones
So, I still have a few questions about it
Maybe DVDs will help to answer them when they come out. I had some BIG problems with this show for the HUGE frankenstien complex that it exhibeted, and for the complete disregard for the darwinian denial that mankind seemed to be in
Both AI and "Tank" were better built and capable than your typical human, but no technologies from EITHER seem to have been used by humans for humans: such as gowing organs, replacing limbs (Prosthetic or organic), organs (prosthetic or organic), or just simple improvements to humanities frail body
When these things are finally realized
I think that people will probably not be as universally hostile to them as they are depicted in TV
