Roman Temple 1
Gun Crew (20mm) 15
Female superhero 1
Oathmark Wolf-riders 10

Profit for month +2

Well, I did my taxes, so I didn't spend much time painting. My total was 8 figures painted, five bashi-bazouks and three pulp figures. I did get in some sculpting, working on a conversion to lead my Saga Scots.

One of the pulp figures was the not-Dorothy-Lamour figure from Pulp Miniatures. Naturally, she is depicted in a sarong, which would have been made of a colorful cloth print. So, it was necessary to freehand bright flowers and leaves on the off-white sarong. Surprisingly, given my total lack of skill at freehand painting, she did not come out looking like absolute crap!

On the bright side, I didn't buy any figures. This is because I bought a new set of rules and a book, and I'm plotting a figure order for May. I also expect to receive a kickstarter in May, so, unless I put down this keyboard and pick up a brush, May is likely to be a rather bad month.

Many times, I've offset my purchases by selling things off. I blame the COVID-19 crisis for the fact that plan didn't work well in April. I suppose people have limited funds, and want to be cautious about the money they have.

With the year a third over, I've bought 49 figures, painted 39, and sold off 8, so I've got two more unpainted figures than I did at the beginning of the year. :^(

Not a bad month especially considuring I had a birthday and my wife buys figures for me. Got some good deals on ebay also. But I am feeling better and steroids I am on keep waking me up early, so lots of painting time.

Bought= 355
Painted= 977
net profit= 622
for year = 888

If I can keep up this pace i will have to move on from 28mm napoleonics to 1/1200 ships(yeah).

I think I finished 9 25 and 28mm miniatures in April, got into another 10 or so, and primed another 20. Our stay-at-home was just extended to 31 May, so I'm looking forward to getting a lot more done in May.

I have an appointment to go to my storage unit tomorrow, and I will pick up some things for kitbashing/scratchbuilding that I've been wanting to do for a very long time. Also, I haven't been to the barber since like February, and my long (for me) hair has been helping me empty a conditioner bottle that is going to get turned into a spaceship.

I didn't buy anything directly for the hobby, but my choices of certain household item purchases were certainly influenced by the shape of their packaging, particulary mushrooms, tofu, and almond milk.

Distractions from painting include the combination of awesome California spring weather, free time, good health and physical condition (and a wife with the same), easy access to bike paths and waterways, and bicycles and a kayak. So we go out and do something almost every day within a few miles of our home. Also taxes and other paperwork of life have taken away some of my painting and building time.

I've managed to control my spending an so only got the figures that were available for the Vietnam project. This won't last much longer as Empress has a number of things in the pipeline. For the GNW project I've almost completed everything I have so will be placing an order soon for most of what will finish that project, for now. All in all a good month for painting with a fair number on the table nearly finished.

Bought = 41 (USMC & NVA 28mm-41)
Painted = 46 (GNW Russians 28mm-20, USMC 28mm-14, NVA 28mm-12)

Monthly profit = +5

YTD Bought = 102
YTD Painted = 164
Yearly profit = +62

I've managed to control my spending

What? It looks like English yet I can't understand the point… grin

A few KS and other purchases from 2019 are still 'in flight' but otherwise I have been rather restrained. I felt I was rather productive but only finished 25 figures this month. Too many hobbies I fear.

Syrinx0, let me rephrase that.
I managed to restrain my spending. :-)

Now this is something in English that I don't understand

Good month overall for me, even if it is an odd variety.

I painted:
3 15mm Battletech mechs
3 Ghar battlesuits from Gates of Antares
3 Spanish pirates from Blood and Plunder
23 15mm Aliens xenomorphs
12 stands of 6mm infantry
13 28mm Eisenkern space Germans
1 28mm sci-fi objective terrain piece
1 28mm sci-fi building
6 WWII Higgins boat gunners
5 25mm GZG ESU naval units

We're going to call it 44 28mm figures worth of painting for the purpose of my painting goals for 2020.

My running total from last month was 102 figures, bringing me up to 146 figures towards my goal of 350, doing good!

I have 10 GZG 25mm figures on the workbench which I'll finish today, so it's only getting better.

I've been keeping up with my blogging, even with a big project at work. My weekly progress blogs can be seen here:

@FusilierDan When I paint I put the finished stuff on a flat piece of wood, like masonite, and put it in the cabinet with the finished minis till I feel like basing. I painted so much, that when I was counting it I missed the one board off to the side. In my defense it is kind of dark over there.

Syrinx003 May 2020 5:34 p.m. PST

If I found 29 figures I would double my production that month! But I must admit waiting to finish the basing often extends the completion time at my table as well.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP03 May 2020 6:14 p.m. PST

I painted so much,

OK rub it in why don't you. :-)

DOUGKL04 May 2020 8:15 a.m. PST

Painted
16 ACW inf
14 Spartan Hoplites
8 Carthaginian hoplites
12 French Napolionic inf

50 figures total, not a bad month for me.
However, there was a deal I liked from a TMPer I bought colonials, inf, cav and art. Total 190 figures.
YTD- 83

It's early so I can climb out of the whole in 1 or 2 months.
