Last months post

Here we are the end of the year. I was sitting pretty with a +131 in the painted column. I had bought 11 40mm and had 35 figures on order and 30 on target to be finished painted. Then I walked into the hobby store and left with 88 figures. I didn't need these figures for any project planned or needing to be finished but the price was right. so here's how the numbers look today

Bought = 134
Painted = 30 (AWI 28mm British Cavalry -15, WWII 28mm Germans -15)

Monthly profit = -104
Yearly profit = +27

Dismal as this looks I actually painted 334 figures (68 being cavalry)for the year which is pretty good for me.

I'm looking forward to 2020.

I pretty good in December considering what I had to paint for others & how busy the month was. Alsp my wife gave me a lot of figures for Christmas.

Bought(gifts)= 264
painted = 176
net =-88

for the year ended in the positive column(not bad considering some of the deals I found on ebay).

Bought= 2380
painted= 3110
net = +730

So 2 years of lowering the lead pile!

December
Bought
- NOTHING
Painted
- EWM Road sections 30
- Airfix Café 1
- Sarissa Garden Shed (28mm) 1

Balance for the year – bought 173 items, painted 202 so positive 29 (much less than 2018's 68)

Not unhappy as lots of bits are a good way down the painting process, including Frostgrave plastic snakemen which I rather like.

December bought more than I should have, but now painting some 6mm musketeers and AWI that I got in a deal at a convention flea market along with some 6mm buildings. Finished a batch of small craft for Cruel Seas.

With an out of state trip at the beginning of the month and Christmas, I didn't get as much painted as I'd hoped. OK, I got 11 figures painted and the last one was completed just in time for me to run to the TV and watch the ball drop in Times Square. In addition, I painted a Reaper stone altar and a couple plot points for Pulp Alley type games.

Against that, I did find time to order a box of Perry plastic figures that came on Christmas Eve. I have assembled eight of them, though I seem to be lacking in assembly skills, and will have to work on this.

So, for December 40 purchased and 11 painted.
For the year, I purchased 194 figures and painted 195. Movement in the correct direction, though not very far. However, one must add to this the 123 figures I sold off, which puts me well into the positive in trying to decrease the lead (and now plastic, too) mountain.

Next year, I hope to sell even more figures I will never get to, I also hope to use the money to buy scenery for my games, rather than purchase lots of additional figures that I may never get to.

I only finished 9 more minis in December, bringing my total up to 356 miniatures painted from my own collection. I went to restart my blog and found out that my goal was not 300 miniatures, but 350 miniatures!

356 minis this year!

I wrote up a quick review of my year in painting on my blog:

I have been following this for a while…it is January 2nd, 2020 and I believe I will participate in this…I will kept track of what I have bought and what I paint…assuming profit means a positive number…painted vs. bought. God knows my lead and plastic mountain is huge!

Managed to finish the rest of the partially painted units on the desk plus the last Askari DA figures I had primed.

Purchased: 611
Painted: 140

Definitely need to start reversing the ratio of painted to purchased. Congrats to those who actually managed to reduce their pile!
