Once again, we are reaching the end of a year and time has come to confess your gaming crimes, following on previous confessional sessions: TMP link

Time again to prostrate yourself before your fellow TMPers to confess your most horrific and stomach-churning gaming acts. You do this with the slim hope that your fellow gamers will offer you a degree of leniency, compassion and forgiveness. But this process of possible rehabilitation can only start when you start confessing the crimes you have committed this year. It is time to confess, confess, confess!

- Have you used Indian, instead of African, elephants for scenarios involving Hannibal crossing the Alps? Confess!

- Are the pikes of Thirty Years War armies a micron thicker than they should be at this scale compared to the real thing? Confess!

- Have you painted the gaiter buttons of your AWI British a full two shades lighter than is historically accurate? Confess!

- Have you used building on your table that incorporate door hinges only commonly seen at least five years after your scenario date? Confess!

Confess your gaming crimes! Confess them now!

I throw myself on the mercy of my fellow gamers for I have committed unspeakable crimes against historical miniature war gaming.
I have used Hadendowah warrior figures alongside Riveraine warrior figures in games about the Mahdist attacks against Khartoum in 1885.
I have used generic looking Mikes Models colonial muzzle-loading artillery pieces as breech loaders!
I've mixed Egyptian infantry wearing Summer and Winter uniforms…in the same scenario!
I AM GUILTY. Please grant me forgiveness and understanding.

I charged a war elephant onto a bridge which held a roman legion. Forgive my moment of pachyderm road rage.

I played, I had fun, therefore no crime.

O where to begin…

In the long ago pre-internet days, it was often easier to find information about cavalry troopers than about the horse furniture – but one must paint _something_ in order to get the troops on the table. My Wuerttemberg cavalry were quite wrong – AND I DIDN'T REPAINT THEM FOR TWO YEARS AFTER I LEARNED MY ERROR. (please leave a revolver and a single round)

My Revolutionary French have a combination of white and blue uniforms – AND HAVE APPEARED THUS AT MARENGO. (ok, a pistol shot is too good for the likes of me, leave a rusty knife)

The Soum hussars in my Russian army wear their spiffy yellow dolmans, YEARS AFTER 1809. (shall I hang myself with a bricole?)

I say this with profound shame…I gloss my colonials! Waaaaah!

I shoot the OFM often, even if we are on the same side. Most often in the back to boot.

I've been building at late 18th century Portuguese colonial army in 25mm.

None of the units are modeled with bayonets except one small detachment of police. Here's the sin, the police were armed with the Snider model 1871 rifle that was tainted with problems including a bayonet that did not fix.

Young forgive me, for I have sinned. In the past year--

I have played the same scenario twice with sides reversed because I let non-wargaming events consume the necessary time and energy.

I have repainted troops after the game and not before.

I have failed to specify woods type in the scenario.

I have stayed home from two conventions, and not sold off surplus troops and terrain.

For these and other sins…

I planned several games but never played them due to multiple reasons.
I painted some regular German WWII troops as SS troops in pea dot camo.

While I have collected shelves full of rules for almost every wargame era & genre, I only use "Pig Wars", "Mordheim" & a couple of "Two Hour Wargames" rule sets for the games that I run.

In a rush I used a Prussian Napoleonic Infantry Flag for a cavalry unit. I've wanted to get that off my chest for a while now.

I don't know etotheipi, looks pretty legit to me.

Now just have someone lugging scooby snacks around for maximum effect.

So my imperial guard grenadiers have a red collar…..of course it should be blue for the guard as opposed to red for the line….they were painted in 1979….have not got around to fixing them yet!

I introduced my Grandsons to Colonials; them using my Rorke's Drift 24th of Foot, me using 2nd edition 40K Space Orks and Gretchins…..

von Schwartz23 Dec 2019 2:11 p.m. PST

Tried to use "Pistols w/sword" 3 times in a renaissance game cavalry melee. (Hangs head in shame)

Korvessa23 Dec 2019 5:40 p.m. PST

I once used the wrong shade of red.
Or was it wrong shade of blue?

jefritrout27 Dec 2019 7:24 a.m. PST

In my Ming army I was one base short of archers, so I snuck a base of Burgundian longbowmen in the middle of the back rank of one unit.

My dad had painted up the Croatian national football (soccer) team and he inverted the order of the checks of the uniform on one of the players. As of yet nobody has been able to identify which player it is though.
