Hi all. Whatever happened to Gripping Beast's "Desert Frontier" range?? Have they discontinued it for some reason? All I can find at their site are the shields from those Desert Frontier figures:

For reference, the tribesmen figures themselves looked like this (from the excellent "Iron Mitten" blog)

They were nice minis. Unusual.

Isn't this one of several ranges like the Romans/Celts which have been waiting for new molds for several years now?

If you bought the shields, you might do a good approximation using the Perry plastic mahdists?

What era are those??

"Come In NighthawK" – they represent Garamantes tribesmen. The Garamantes were apparently a tribe/nation in North Africa who were a local power there from c.500BC up to c.700AD. That's a LONG time, so they could play a role in many an ancient army, as either allies or opponents.

Osprey 243 – Rome's Enemies (5), The Desert Frontier, has a bit of info on them (Plate A3), as does this Wikipedia article:

Any fotos of the other figures in this extinct line??

I'm stunned to think that is the only foto of Gripping Beast's now-sadly OOP line of "Desert Frontier" figures??? No one can shed some light on any others???

I guess I was not clear, clear enough anyway, about that for which I was looking? Not "just" the Garamantes "infantry," but the wider, Gripping Beast "Desert Frontier" line of figures…

However, by reaching to the depths of my Google-Fu, and typing into my search engine, "TMP Gripping Beast Desert Frontier," I got…

I would hope there are other images out there, just still eluding my searches. But it is a start…
