I know JJ Abrams said the scene brought a tear to his eye, but there were more than a few giggles at the theater (not from me, at first) when I went to see it, specially the longer that "climactic scene" dragged on.

Some parts of that scene seemed to have been filmed in the morning, while others in the afternoon. I'm sure her arm must have hurt at the end of the day(s?).

I'm not sure but evidently she'll have trouble in the future with scratching her left elbow.

Don't forget the deep, meaningful eye contact and possible unspoken "Force" communication between the two.

The momentous scene was long enough for the (mostly) WMF TMP link to conclude it must portend that:

a.) Luke is Rey's father

b.) Luke will gratefully accept his lightsaber, of course

c.) Luke will either reinvigorate a renewed Resistance against The First Order under his own leadership, or at the very least ditifully train Rey to succeed him in that role as Yoda had done with him in TESB.

After TLJ dashed these hopes and dreams, we've all seen what happens when hell hath no fury as WMF scorned and SW cast members got bullied out of their Instagram accounts.

Wild Mass Fangasming?

Now 28mm Fanatik added a link to that other thread. I guess his WMF stands for "white male fandom".

So you are saying that this is also a gender thing?

I don't think so, seeing as how my Hispanic female wife and her sister were also giggling. And they later joked about how long Rey and Luke stood there, poses frozen, and how dramatic they tried to make it all look.

28mm Fanatik has one perspective…I agree more with this one…

I thought you said you didn't watch the SW movies anymore, CC?

He just saw 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' and liked it:

I know. Shocking, right?

28mm Fanatik: "I know. Shocking, right?"

Yeah. No one more shocked than I.

All week my wife had been talking about going to see A Quiet Place. I made myself believe that was the one we would all end up seeing.

Also, if I had known that Solo was the movie we were going to see, I think I would have had time to work up enough negativity to find reasons not to go with them to the movies. Except for Rogue One all the others had been such a huge disappointment.

@CC

Between the two I would have recommended AQP over 'Solo to be honest. That movie blew me away while 'Solo was good but not great.

I was initially upset about the switch, but we immediately made plans to see AQP tonight, and just the two of us this time.
