… Civilizations on Earth before Humans?.

""We have not seen any evidence of another industrial civilization," Professor Frank said. "But by looking at the deep past in the right way, a new set of questions about civilizations and the planet appear: What geological footprints do civilizations leave? Is it possible to detect an industrial civilization in the geological record once it disappears from the face of its host planet?"

"These questions make us think about the future and the past in a much different way, including how any planetary-scale civilization might rise and fall."

In what they deem the ‘Silurian Hypothesis,' Professor Frank and Dr. Schmidt define a civilization by its energy use…."

I believe Dr. Who proved this beyond doubt.

They are still here, underground, waiting.

Seeing as how everything we thought was morality, science and history is being flipped around … I say, why not.

Hail the Silurians!

I think we need to warm up the planet just a little bit more before they finally come to the surface and take their rightful place over us all.

Read a theory once that once civilization collapses, it won't come back. All the easy minerals have been mined, the oil that's easy to get to has been pumped out, etc. So how is the next civilization going to start when they have to dig DEEP to get to the good stuff?

Cacique Caribe27 Apr 2018 2:21 a.m. PST

The minerals can be recycled from all our rubble.

@Stryderg

Yes but…

In geologic time, which is what's being discussed here, then it's easy to imagine a new civilization arising to dominate the planet.

What do you mean, you didn't mean hairy apes evolved from, vermin, but a Silurian civilization!?

I for one am feeling very civilized indeed.

Not long now until my scaly brothers and our army of giant eurypterids are set to take over the world!

I remember a ST Voyager episode or two about that … Like it a lot.

I for one am feeling very civilized indeed.
I've never thought otherwise … But world domination … well some may find that not so civilized …

But good luck with that …
