Can anyone suggest SIMPLE rules for Viking battles? Skirmish or bigger battles. I am looking for SIMPLE. No pages and pages of rules. Just movement and fighting. Is there anything out there that you can suggest? Thank you Harv |

Song of blades and heroes..not really hard at all. Think DBA skirmish. ..although somewhere out there is a freebie called one page rules for dark ages or something. It was a basic as it got and was not a bad set of rules. Blood Eagle is real simple |

Another vote for Ravensfeast! Free, one page, and lots of fun. Our club has played it many times with warbands ranging anywhere from 6-20 figures per player. Hard to beat a one-page set of rules, but even there it still somehow covers shield wall and some special rules to add period flavor. |

I find Lion Rampant to be very simple, and as already stated, Song of Blades and Heroes. As an interesting side note, I have a friend I tried to get into miniatures gaming and we used Song of Blades and Heroes. It's really simple and fun to use. You can't get much simpler. My friend, who is a big board gamer, spent the whole time complaining how miniatures games are so much more complicated than board games. I was shocked. His favorite current game? Gloomhaven, which is a game so complex it is mind boggling. |

Stay a mile away from Blood Eagle if you want simple! The rulebook gave me a headache and an aching desire to never play Vikings. Simple, choose Song of Blades and Heroes. A BIT more complex, Age of Blood, free to download, based on the LOTR GW game rules, simple but full of Viking flavor |

Lord of the Rings works very well as a Dark Age skirmish set. Nice and simple, and easy to get hold of. |
