Using this handsome fella's regal seated pose as my muse, I've slowly continued sculpting of my simian Lawgiver* statue:
linkHere's what I did last night (or was that this morning?) on his headdress. I'm still not sure what I'll do about robes though. And I'm leaving the parchment on his scroll for last. As you can see, I also started in a smaller version, intended to be a half-buried idol. That's a 15mm figure from Rebel Minis next to them:
More angles here: link So what do you think so far? Thanks Dan * Part 1 here: TMP link About my initial Planet Of the Sand Apes idea: TMP link |

That does look excellent. I always thought this Zira model kit would make a good Lawgiver statue. The figure is holding a scroll, and if mounted on a pedestal and painted to look like stone, would come out well:

Thanks so much guys! Glad you like it so far. It's really been ages since I really tried to sculpt something, so fingers crossed. Let's see if the end result is anything worth using. Dan PS. WarWizard, that Aurora kit would make an impressive Lawgiver statue! |

Planet of the Apes Monopoly $16.99 USD In stock $39.99 USD Sale (save up to 58%) Human See, Human Do Great for fans of the 1968 movie Includes classic illustration by Dave Perillo Also good for passing time when you're locked in a lab for observation Movie executives kept kicking Charleton Heston out of their offices, saying, "Who would watch a movie about monkeys and spaceships?" Planet of the Apes then went on to be one of the first movies ever to have merchandise tie-ins. The moral of this story? Always listen to Moses. The Planet of the Apes Monopoly Game is great for fans of the 1968 version of the movie (even though Andy Serkis finally made the apes look believable!). Instead of Chance and Community Chest, you have "Human See" and "Human Do." Boardwalk & Park Place are replaced by the Forbidden Zone and (spoiler alert!) The Statue of Liberty ruins. Really, you can't have spoilers any more on a movie that's 49 years old. The loser gets a lobotomy, and the winner gets to do their best Charleton Heston scream of despair!
