I watched District 9 The other day and got intrigued about doing it as a Miniatures game. Lots of action, trucks helicopters, three sides. I tried to search back threads in TMP but the search engine didn't work for Me on either my iPad or desktop. Have there been postings on this? I would very much like to know if anyone else has it ever done this as a game. What figures, vehicles, terrain, etc. I am always happy to build on other peoples work :-) I don't feel the need to invent everything. Thanks much. |

Your not alone, I've tried a few searches also that didn't work. Good luck on your project. |

We use the Infinity rules and figures for a background much like District 9. It works pretty well. The best part is that for vehicles and such like you just make a stat line like that for a T.A.G. increasing or decreasing stats as you see fit and it works perfectly into the game. |

I could not get TMP search to work, so I did a Google and found this TMP link Lots of very useful ideas from back in 2010. Any new figures since then? Pictors -- what is Infinity figures, do you mean the Disney ones? |

You could also do it in 15mm, using GZG's "Crusties". link link Dan

link Might as well push my DIY multi-scale shanty town buildings, inspired by the Flash "District 9" game. |

Yeah, Infinity the Game is about perfect for cinematic small unit action. Game is written for 10-20 models per side, each model activates (or can pass it's activation to another model, there's no limit on number of activations per model other than tactically leaving a model exposed and overextended). Rules are free to download, too! (Yes, I am a fan of the rules. I post as Section9 on the Infinity forums.) |

15mm GZG crusties essentially are District 9 bugs. Not sure of any in larger scales. |

Doesn't Reviresco (tin soldier) have some pretty close bugs in 25mm ? |

From memory, those would be the Dreenoi, right? Dan |

IIRC the Dreenoi looked like big ants with what looked like big "teeth" kind of … mandibles I think they are called ? |

Yep ! That's them ! My buddy had a whole force of them. We played an SST type game with the Starguard Human Infantry that they also made. I usually played the bugs … |

I used my Dreenoi as Mercenaries (they get all they can eat after the battle) in a true 25mm scifi game. Battletech infantry, Grenadier, Heritage, Gzg, Weg Star Wars and a few others. Back to the original question I use the Gzg Prawns as part of my Bug army. I bought 3 Dreenoi Cockroach tanks to use with them along with Pendraken Tripods and 8 legged bio machines. lots more bugs. |
