It has been nearly two years since I called for TMPers to confess their gaming crimes: TMP link During that time I am sure that there must be more souls looking to confess their crimes in order to seek forgiveness and redemption. But in order to receive this you must confess fully first. Confess your gaming crimes. Have your Union ACW units flown national flags with the incorrect number of stars on them? Then confess! In your Arnhem games do some of your figures still wear early war uniforms? Then confess! Do Vikings make a guest appearance in your Hastings game? Then confess! Do you have generic ancient armies, rather than researching the historical texts (in their original language, of course) to ensure complete accuracy? Then confess! Are the mud splatters on your Thirty Years War armies more of a shade more suitable for southern Greece than central Germany? Then confess! Confess your gaming crimes to try and save your twisted and blackened soul! Ezza |

I dislike the painting/modelling aspect of the hobby. Because of my preference, I've started playing games with counters – link |

My ratio of thinking about gaming to actual gaming is skewed in entirely the wrong direction. |

Sir, you are a cad and bounder! It is you who should hang his head in shame! How can your men stand in next to the true soldier, in there prissy one period uniform having fought in only one limited place, time and country, when standing next to the true soldier who has fought without complaining, regardless of depiction, for a hundred countries and dose news of periods! You heap disgrace without measure on you men. |

Not sure that early war kit on Germans at Arnhem is a problem – lots of re-mustered troops with whatever they got handed to them. |

I will neither confirm or deny these "rumors" … |

Peccavi! @ warwell, I think wargaming with little cardboard counters might just catch on one day. Keep thinking outside the box! |
BrockLanders | 03 Dec 2017 10:29 a.m. PST |
I no longer care too much how accurate my uniforms/kit are on my troops. I try to get the basics correct but just paint some of the details in colors I think look cool on the table. Makes painting more enjoyable and less of a chore |

I have sinned against the holy TOE for my 1980's force. I'am deep ashamed about not being historically correct for a war that never happened. |

Well, my unit of old Riders of Rohan lancers – who have served as medieval English cavalry, French knights, Roman auxilaries and fantasy lancers – would be high up there As would my khaki-clad Warlord era Chinese infantry who have been Chinese, Mexican, South American and colonial French |

I used to worry about if my British flags were upside down, or if grenadiers were deployed on the left or right or Measure 10 or Measure 11 camo on my 1942 ships. Then one day a couple of years ago my good friend and longtime gaming buddy said," It's just a game"! A profound statement that has caused me to relax and enjoy gaming since then. |

My 15mm French in Egypt have some infantry units with the flag of another unit – because I couldn't find all the correct ones. Shameful. David F Brown |

After reading the Classics Illustrated version of "The Conspiricy of Pontiac" I used recently purchased Airfix WWI French and WWI Germans as French and British along barely more accurate Plains Indians. This has been eating at me for decades. I'm so glad to get it off my chest. |

FusilierDan, I am not certain that is forgiveable even with your confession. Now me, I have never done anything wrong…… OK, maybe lying. |

I confess that my American Civil War field hospital scenes did not reflect the appropriate shades for gangrenous suppuration of neglected wounds, nor the appropriate species of maggots infesting said wounds. As a result, only 6 out of ten passersby lost their lunch glancing at it! I will try to do better next time. |
4th Cuirassier | 04 Dec 2017 2:46 a.m. PST |
We once used ECW cuirassiers in a Napoleonic game because we didn't have any British heavy cavalry. Well, they were the right nationality. One just had to overlook the small matter of their being 170 years out of period. |

I once threw a die that bounced off table the onto the floor. I saw what it said on the face, put my foot on it , looked up, and said "Can I play a dice roll that landed off table?" The answer was "No!" I tutted, and the game continued. The roll was, of course, a 1. I just chose how to phrase the question. |

@ olicana I used to play with a guy who figured Jagdpanthers could fire to a flank because the rules didn't say they couldn't. |

When the family goes out of town I sometimes take out all my wargame figures and set them up on the dining room table, just because I think it looks cool. When I am doing solo wargames I have been known to do sound effects. |

I put on a display game set during the Maxmillian Adventure it was pointed out to me that the railway track I was using had the wrong sleepers. Oh the shame, and the tender on the engine was full of wood when it should have been coal but only I knew that. It was probably the wrong sort of engine as well. However the person that was critical seemed obsessed with the sleepers so I got away with the rest of it. |

I've started playing games with counters Their called board wargames and I am looking at a bookcase full of them. From GMT. AH, SPI and others past and present. Nice try though. |
Old Contemptibles | 05 Dec 2017 8:25 p.m. PST |
Some of my AWI American regiments have stars and stripes flags. Some have the mythical Betsy Ross flags and I am so ashamed. I used Saratoga and Southern British uniformed battalions for the New York campaign. Please forgive my sins. I am proud to proclaim that I have resisted the temptation of using my Napoleonic French cavalry in my FPW games. |
Mserafin | 08 Dec 2017 12:50 p.m. PST |
On this, my approximately fourth time into Napoleonic, I have decided that given the choice between strict historical accuracy and what looks cool, I'm going with the latter. Life's too short to obsess about historical details that may be proven to be wrong next week. Example: the British 50th Foot had black facings. I think the best evidence is that their regimental flag was white with a red cross. But GMB makes a set with a black flag with a red cross. The black one is just too metal not to use, despite its questionable historical accuracy. And I'm enjoying myself! |

I confess I'm using Russians or British troops as proxies for my French, Norwegian, Dutch & Greek troops in my WWII reenactments. No point in buying/painting entire armies if they're only going be be around for a short while. I also confess, on the same premise above, that I am using Germans for my Italians. |
