This guy here. The scene looks very familiar, but I can't place it.

I'd love a few of him in my 15mm armies. :)

I want to say "The Patriot", but he doesn't really look that much like Mel Gibson.

Cacique Caribe15 Nov 2017 5:48 p.m. PST

The Patriot???

Lol. Not unless it's a remake, but with Denzel or Will Smith in the lead role now. :)

"The Broadsider is the answer to that age-old question: "Would it be fun to walk around and shoot people with a portable naval cannon?" Yes. Yes it would."

That tube should weigh well over a ton! Best guess a foreign film.

It's "Top Secret", a movie from the 80s starring Val Kilmer, good for a laugh a la Airplane.

Alright, alright. I won't mention it again. But, how was I supposed to know? The link isn't labeled top secret!

Hold on a second.

("Rant" follows) :)

I know it's supposed to be a comedy and all, but Communist (Soviet Controlled) East Germany is the setting for the film … and yet Hollywood still has to make them look like WW2 Nazis?

What's with the fixation with WW2? Geesh. I could stand to see less of those guys. Talk about stuck in a time loop.

Is that all that the Hollywood studios ever keep in their wardrobe department? I think East German helmets were selling for a couple of bucks a piece back then at that time. They could have at least changed the helmets.

Well what about having the French resistance in East Germany? That makes no sense either…but it is fun!

"Is he going to be OK?"

"Oh, he caught a cold the other day, and he's just a little horse" 😂

Cacique Caribe15 Nov 2017 7:14 p.m. PST

Exactly. Crazy stuff. But this is just one of many such WW2 fixation examples.

Could have been something like Gotcha! (1985)* but taking it to a new comedic level.

Someone in Hollywood surely must have thought about making fun of the DDR's Stasi, for a change, right? Always the Nazi, the Nazi, the Nazi.

I loved this short, to the point, clip (language NSFW):

I even loved some of the hilarious dialogue early on in the film:

Jonathan: (I would like to tell the girl across the cafe) Mon crayon est grand et mon crayon est jaune.
Waiter: Your pencil is big and yellow?
Jonathan: Oui!
Waiter: Nice for you.
