Seems that liquidating my 15mm has resulted in one regret, the lack of appropriate WWI Eastern Front and RCW figures in 6mm. Anyone doing this in 6mm?

If nothing else may begin a western front project and hope other armies are eventually made, or alternately look at 28mm down the road as a possibility.

Irregular do quite an extensive range covering most fronts in WW1. In 6mm it shouldn't be too difficult to use a few proxies from other ranges to extend to more 'informal' forces for RCW.

Personally I've recently done 1914 and (doing) RCW (Ukraine) in 10mm and have to use a fair number of proxies with those.

If you want to step up a size, Pendraken makes a 10mm line.

Ww1 Eastern Front will be one of our new ranges for 2018. We'll be finishing off Mesopotamia over the next couple of months in order to clear the decks.

The first sculpts for the Russians are done and the do look very good indeed…

Interesting…

What size of forces are you looking at playing, company, battalion, etc., and how many figures would that take (scale-wise). This is a new area of interest for me so curious plus which rules? Thank you in advance.

I have several Army packs of Irregular 6mm for the Eastern Front. I've only painted a handful of Germans and Russians; they are crude sculpts that paint up very well using an interpretive style ("I will paint that blob flesh because a hand should be there"). If this sounds like a critical remark, it really isn't. I am a fan of the range.

Some Irregular 6mm WW1 Russians

Baccus,

Good news! Will certainly keep a lookout for them.

Regarding Irregular, I know that some find them acceptable, but if I am forced down that road would simply go with another scale instead.

I have used 1914 British from Baccus as proxies for 1914 Russians infantry and that worked out very well. I use the French 75 and cut the tip off the end of the barrel and that worked out for Russian 76's artillery. Overall, everything came together for this project a while back. If I can figure out how to post a few pictures I will.

Here are two AARs that contain photos of Irregular Miniatures, Baccus, and Heroics and Ros figures. The first features a scenario from the Great War Spearhead supplement entitled 'All Fine Men'. It is Action Near Gawaiten, part of the Battle of Gumbinnen:

Here is a scenario from the GWSH supplement called 'Summer Harvest'. It shows Russian, Austro-Hungarian, and German forces in the Battle of Krasnik:

The supplements, which are designed to be used with other rulesets, are available here:

There are photos of the Russian, Austro-Hungarian, and Serbian Irregular Miniatures models here:

I have the Heroics and Ros Russians range and the figures are very good. Larger than the earlier style, with lots of variation. The artillery pieces are especially good.

My first message was posted twice. Rather than simply delete the second, work will begin next year on the 1915 campaigns on the Eastern Front. Work is already well underway on a Caucasus Front GWSH supplement.
