Plan to use these guys for Square Bashing on the Eastern Front, circa 1914. The figures are Irregular and the base on the left has decided to turn their backs on the Germans (and the camera)…

I really like them alot! Great painting! I am looking at doing the frontier battles of 1914 and didn't consider 6mm as neither Baccus nor Adler do a WW1 range. But those look good!

Irregular Miniatures 6mm WW1 figures always look disappointing when you get them. But they paint up well. The Russian range is quite good, with a variety of types of figure and poses. I like the HQ stand. My interest has been in the early battles on the Caucasus front but the figures go equally well for the battles against the Germans and Austro-Hungarians.

Thanks for that. What rules will you be using? Any tips on painting techniques as your figures do look very nice!?

FWIIW, I use a white primer then give the figures a quick brush with a dilute khaki colour. This is followed by a brown wash. The bed roll is painted grey, leaving the brown edge as a highlight. It sticks out from the figure so is easy to highlight. The boots are next. Then the trousers and arms, using various shades of khaki if you want but making sure you leave a brown edge next to hands, shoulder, etc. Then the overcoat. Finally a dot of flesh for the face and for each hand, then the wood for the rifle and gun metal or similar for the bayonet. Voila (sorry, don't know the Russian equivalent).

I had planned to use Square Bashing. As for painting them, I primed tan, painted them a khaki/green from Vallejo, then picked out the details that I could discern. Last item was an ink/wash of payne's gray and Future.
